I moved to a city without a store and I miss it! From my observation, they carry a lot of basics that are essentially the same from year to year, especially the heattech line, Airism, cashmere sweaters, sweats, and puffer coats and jackets. You can count on them having your favorite basic items which is nice. They do interesting designer collabs regularly. </p> <p>I have a few things I love from Uniqlo: Airism bra camisoles, all the heat tech stuff (including socks), and the smooth cotton t shirts (which last forever). I also have a few jackets and puffers but they don’t really make my heart sing, they’re just…fine. </p> <p>That’s been my experience with Uniqlo - some great things and lots of basics that maybe aren’t that thrilling. Lots of neutral colors and boxy fits. Many many graphic t shirts. I think the denim is supposed to be good, but it doesn’t fit me. The lightweight puffers are great for my climate but might not work for your area. The collaborations are worth checking out but often skew young. I also have all the tshirts, lol, and a couple of fit and flare dresses. And buttondowns…<br />Never been in a store, so can testify that the returns process is annoying and expensive. So, lots of practical, inexpensive clothes with some trends like cropped tops and wide, barrel leg pants. Uniqlo is well known for their great quality denim, affordable natural fiber knits and specialty tech fabrics. For our age group, there are still plenty of choices available if one is looking for good quality basics or an occasional trend to try. I put them above the Gap in terms of quality and they don’t try too hard to be trendy. No nearby location so I have browsed a few stores when on vacation in Europe and done a little bit of online shopping. To me, they are very much basic heavy rather than style or maybe that is just what draws my attention. I am fine with that, although I haven't purchased a lot. Quality for the most part is decent for the price point. Some items can skew a bit cropped and boxy and many are unisex. Colours available tend to change each season.</p> <p>I find that the staff constantly greets me with "bonjour" even if I just saw them in the other aisles.</p> <p>I also like how you can just drop your basket of items into the self checkout area and it automatically totals everything instantly. I did buy some linen shirts many years ago on a NYC trip. I think it can be excellent for essentials if the colours (or neutrals) work for you and also good for the collabs if you get in on time for those -- which is hard when you don't have a store nearby. The heat-tech stuff is great. The puffers are good, too, again, if you can get a good fit/ colour. I bought two tops and would have possibly bought more, but I was on the way to start the Camino and didn’t want to stuff my luggage fuller than it already was. Merchandise meticulously folded and displayed to the top of high ceilings! Impressive. Two thirds of the store is women's wear, one quarter mens, and the rest is everything else - including kids, babies, stuff, and collabs. And everyone shops in all the departments! Gender and age is fluid with respect to merchandise. Staff are helpful, friendly, and constantly neatening the store - opposite to Zara, where staff are generally unhelpful, unfriendly, and disinterested in keeping things neat ;)&nbsp;</p> <p>Assortments change every month or so, but not a lot.
