*(Ignore the YAY and NAY. Tech bug).

SOOOOO enjoying my Summer skirts! Love my Summers dresses, although wearing skirts more frequently this year. Some dresses I'm wearing as tunics over wide pants (more on that later).

1. Outfit #1:

A dear and thoughtful friend who knows my style alerted to me to Ralph Lauren's customizing feature of their classic Polo shirts. There was a YORKIE, and I was ALL IN!!! Got the navy right away, and the pale pink is on order. BEST Polos shirts on my life! All items in this outfit are new apart from the old red bag. Skirt was cheap as chips from The Rack. The pearlized flats I got in The Netherlands earlier this year. The jacket is Levi's Blue Label Japanese Denim. Took four years to find right dark boxy denim jacket. Finally! Will have it forever.

2. Outfit #2

All the items are old. Citron co-ord - aka two-piece dress - is 4 years old. The swooshy long skirt is excellent for sun protection. The white jacket is twelve years old and looks new. I'll have it forever too.

Top was bought with a gift card from Spanx. Rest is old.

Jackets on in the morning. Come off later in the day and evening. Warm till 10pm here. LONG days.

I had a two night visit to Christchurch for a work meeting. I flew carry on only. It is cold and mid winter. I had two dinners with family as well, plus wanted to walk in a park for a couple of hours and do some work in the hotel.

I wore the merino turtleneck and trackpants and sneakers (no find) and coat on the way down and for lounging at home and my walk. The navy suit and plaid top were worn for the meeting. I wore the orange pullover for both meals and for the flight home. Same pants and boots in both photos.

I am absolutely squeezed for space in my carry on - I usually check a bag and found this quite challenging. Between toiletries, laptop, book, PJs etc it was hard. If I do this regularly I would investigate a better carry on bag.

Only new piece is the Uniqlo pullover - loved the colour,

My husband and I had a great weekend getaway to a nearby beach town — we got together with some friends who had their son’s graduation party, walked some nature trails, hung out in the pool, and generally had a great relaxing time. Here’s my outfit for our anniversary dinner — not a great angle to see details or proportions (eye level from a 6’6” perspective!), but you get the gist. Zero + Maria Cornejo vest/top and barrel-ish pants, and very old but still favorite LD Tuttle sandals. Too bad I didn’t have a chance to take off the bag or put down my glasses and umbrella, LOL.

Here’s to 23 years of married happiness and adventure!

Back in the day, one of my favorite work outfits was a pair of red wool trousers and a red silk blouse. It was bold but somehow I never felt it was over the top or too much. Somewhere along the way I stopped wearing red and it felt like just a lot. But in the past couple of years I’ve found myself coming back to red.

Which brings me to 2 outfits I wore this week, and my new red glasses.

#1 red accents. The shoes and the belt pick up the red stripes in the top. it’s hard to see in the photo, but the stripes also have some lurex threads so there’s a subtle shimmer which I think is fun

#2 red pointelle tee for a basic WFH look

#3 double chins and all-close up of my new glasses And yes, the bold color glasses share a name with our bold color loving fashion guru

Thanks for looking. As always, all comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated

After a couple of days of damp and very windy weather, Mr. ND suggested dinner and a walk at Alki Beach for a perfectly sunny Wednesday. Yes, please!! Plus, I had the opportunity to wear this dress from Weston Wear, a San Francisco-based label that is sadly no longer in business. I think my Fly London flatform sandals are my most frequently worn pair of sandals. I'm sure I'll be sad once I have to retire them.

Today I put on a favorite linen shirt in Easter/butter yellow--cool and easy. I was very hot, so decided to try a blue linen skort that had gotten too small. It was a squeeze getting in, but felt fine otherwise. I was glad to be cool today.

I added reddish earrings, a silver bangle, then realized I had done primary colors, one of my favorite combinations.

The second photo is my new-to-me dress shirt.

I had envisioned getting a men's dress shirt in an Easter color, like bubblegum pink, and wearing it over a crop top in the same color. The first name that came to mind when I thought of this was Hugo Boss. Not that I'm an expert, but I associate Hugo Boss with great quality, almost tastefully loud.

So when I was in Chicago at the Brown Elephant thrift store, I was so happy when I pulled this Hugo Boss off the rack. It is not an Easter color, but a bold orange and blue stripe.

My father said I look like a Wall Street broker from the Eighties, and I will take that. I definitely enjoy a shirt that commands attention.

(Also, is it just me, or am I loading my photos wrong? On my end, I am not able to expand them out to full size. Can you do that with these photos? I am not sure what I am doing wrong.)

We recently got back from ten days in Northern Italy and had the best time! I love to buy clothes on vacation and this trip was no exception. We popped into a boutique called Luisa Spagnoli in a tiny little town, the name of which escapes me, and I walked out 20 minutes later with this fabulous linen skirt and top. (Alas, they don't ship to the US!) I wore it twice on the trip and I've worn it twice since I've been home -- once to the symphony and tonight to the Pasadena Playhouse. Big fun! And fun fact: All the buttons of both the top and the skirt are actually functional!

Anybody else like to buy wearable souvenirs?

Coming back to say I don't think Angie will agree that this is a true yoked skirt. But the buttons give the illusion of a yoke. If it were pants, it would be sailor pants! So... there you have it!

Tonight I went to an event or the Riverwalk. I had planned to wear a dress until my friend that was helping with the event called and said the mosquitos are horrible wear long pants.

So this is what I came up. I think I achieved looking put together but not overly casual. I enjoyed it but it was hot!

I wore my favorite jeans, and an old Karen Kane top!

I am always amazed when I get dressed how many items I have from Angie’s top picks. What I would do without this blog I have no idea.

Funny story a lady came up to me and asked me to take off my glasses. She explained that she loved them and wanted to look at the brand. She took
pictures of all angles of them. It felt weird but I’m glad she liked them.

On Sunday I went to a fantastic production of Die Fledermaus from the DePaul School of Opera. I am no expert, but the voices were compelling and the plot is delightfully silly. The costume designer dressed Prince Orlofsky as PRINCE, which made me laugh and went over the heads of about half of the audience. I need to find a good alternative for this Uniqlo cotton top, or I will wear it out and be sad.

Just back from a long weekend in Melbourne.

Thanks for the help in what to pack in this thread https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....ng-weekend

I took most of the advice and took a large bag. I did take the black bag -
I think because it is new and is hence a favourite.

I wore most things except the Black Mary Jane’s, cream jeans, pink knit and navy blazer. I changed my planned outfits around as our plans changed - for example on the day we went to the theatre we were out from 1030am to 930pm and so I chose sneakers.

Here are some outfits:

Photo 1 -
Out to dinner and to the comedy show. We used public transport so there was a fair amount of walking.

I loved/love Annie Hall. I’ve not done the tie since I was in high school (but I’m thinking about trying it again), but every time vests come back, I’m all in. And this year, I’m really embracing the vest again, but none of these vests are new, I’m just wearing them more often.

#1 Preppie — I probably wore something really similar to this exact look when I was in high school. I love these loafers, the 2 tone navy and cream gives them, IMO, a preppie with a fashion twist.

#2 Corporate(ish) vibes —navy/white striped vest with navy trousers. Well the trousers aren’t really trousers, they’re coated denim

#3 something old/something new. The vest is 30+YOs, and the jeans are new Uniqlo barrels. I’m not sure these are the right shoes for this outfit, but I was running late and didn’t have time to try a different pair

Thanks for looking. As always all comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated

Hello.

I fell behind on outfits this week so now I'm catching up.

#1 and #2 - Worn to dinner with DH
I'm really enjoying chinos this season, both for shorts and pants. I paired my new this season JCrew chinos with a dusty blue popover Vince Camuto top I picked up from consignment last season. I added my workhorse Ralph Lauren belt and navy suede sandals for dinner.

#3 - Graphic tee for daytime
I always have a place in my wardrobe for graphic tees! I tried to lighten up a black Life is Good graphic tee with some cobalt berry chino JCrew shorts. Tee is 2 years old shorts are from last year. White Sam Edelman sandals are 4 years old and a workhorse for me. Belt is Hermes.

#4 and #5 - Preppy WFH in shorts
I went full on preppy for WFH with a pink Ralph Lauren linen shirt that's new this season paired with last season's Boden striped belt and navy JCrew chino shorts. The workhorse white slides finished the outfit.

#6 and #7 - Floral WFH in shorts
Another day for shorts, this time my light khaki JCrew chino shorts (which are new this season, I love these shorts so much I've collected 4 colors over the past few years). I went more tonal today with a Rails floral print blouse. The sandals are custom made from Postiano, Italy and a Tory Burch belt finished the outfit.

Thanks for looking!

It's still a little gloomy around here so I am resisting the temptation to rush into summer clothes because I know I'll be sick of them by September. Today I had lunch with a friend and a voice lesson, and later this evening I'm starting a new class at the Pasadena Playhouse: Play reading book club, which should be super fun. Nothing in this outfit is very new except the shirt but I liked how it all came together. The shoes are VERY VERY old, Stripey the bag is several years old and the pants and vest are from last year.

Thanks for looking and commenting. Anybody else still waiting for summer to really hit?

Remember when we used to do head-to-toe black or white and we called it "blackout" or "whiteout?" Well, yesterday was "oliveout" day for me! I just got back from vacation and a friend was wearing these awesome tech-fabric (edit -- no, it's cotton poplin!) barrel pants from Old Navy on the trip. I loved them and ordered a pair the minute I got home. They are lightweight and packable and I am super happy with them. Teamed them with an olive top, then when we went out for an early dinner I was afraid I'd be cold in the a/c so I thought why not go all olive with the jacket? And the olive Birks are from last year and still a favorite.

As for the bag, that's Stripey, and he comes out to play every year in June for Pride Month. I get a lot of compliments on him and it leads to a lot of nice interactions with people! And the matching sunnies are fun, too!

Anybody else like to do a nod to Pride Month in June?

A quick hello. I rarely get a chance to post as I have been busy. I recently finished knitting this silk and linen mix top. I decided to wear it in my version of a column of color. Knitting allows me to pick my favorite colors and I am particularly happy with this color. I like the vertical ribs. The fit could be better as it lacks waist shaping and the armhole fit is not ideal.

Once in a while, I have the opportunity to attend an event where "cocktail attire" is requested. Tonight was the appreciation event for Reading Partners, one of my volunteer organizations, at the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture. I chose this Avec Les Filles dark floral dress, which fits the bill for cocktail attire. It's not consistently warm in Seattle yet, so I need a light wrap to ward off the evening chill.

We went out with friends for a lovely dinner this week. I knew my friends would be quite dressed up so I seized the chance to rewear an outfit I wore a couple of weeks ago. I swapped in a white cami for the black knit top, and wore a pearl brooch and two sparkly bracelets - both gifts.

I had saved this photo of TS a couple of months back and this was part of the inspiration.

I really love this black long blazer but it’s hard to get the proportions right. I think I need to do an outfit lab with it.

I swear I got dressed yesterday before I read the blog post! But we had guests all day, stopping on their way back to Phoenix from an Alaska cruise, so I didn't have time to post.

This is my most recent Aritzia acquisition in action. I love this Archive linen shirt in "Susan-stripe"!.The linen is substantial enough that it really only creases where I have tied it at the waist in this photo and the crease partially fall out overnight!

I will note that I examined several of the other colourways in-store and not all had the heft of this navy stripe one, so your mileage might vary. Nevertheless, I am strongly tempted to try this in a lighter colour, especially if it goes on sale in a few weeks.

Other recent Aritzia items are in Finds (green hearts), along with a number of now older, no longer-in-my closet-items that I loved in their time. (Those are the ones with the little blue hearts). You can see that I used to buy many of my CoH jeans from Aritzia -- I don't believe they carry these any more, alas, since they amped up their own denim line.

Hello.

Lately I've seen a number of images with a sweater worn over the shoulders. I really wanted to try the look but the temps are too hot for me to sport a sweater right now, so I used a pullover half-zip from a two-piece set I have from Amazon instead.

A plain white LL Bean tee, navy JCrew chino shorts, white slides, and navy/white stripe Boden belt finished the outfit.

Layering over the shoulders is probably a better options for cooler weather, but it was fun to try layering in a different way with shorts anyway.

Learning how to shorten t shirts has been an excellent life hack. I had really stopped wearing graphic t's because I hate the way the regular length goes to and over my hips at the widest part of my body.

Brooklyn's tutorial (in the comments of this post) on how to shorten a t shirt has been invaluable. Here is my latest fun shirt - I got a black and a white one, and I cut them off this morning at 22" from the mid-point of the shoulder seam to the bottom (which meant I cut off 4.5" at the bottom). Brooklyn's advice in cm is 56-58 cm from shoulder to hem.

(Apologies for the vacuum cleaner in my photo, however it is appropriate as the 4 cats in our house necessitate daily vacuuming!)

The wedding was in the late afternoon outdoors, in a lovely rural location. It was probably the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to, in terms of the actual location, but also how personal and emotional it was. I’m very glad we went.

The forecast was for partly sunny with a high in the 60s. I went through many possible outfits, ordering dresses, jackets, and even shoes. I ended up wearing a dress I’ve had for over ten years, from Talbots. The only new item was the jacket, from Nordstrom Rack. The shoes were a year or two old, from Franco Sarto. The bag is vintage Coach. I also brought a Pendleton duffle coat that I bought in NAS six years ago, and ended up putting it on when the sun went down.

We took the dress, my husband’s blazer and another coat to the dry cleaner beforehand, and when we went to pick them up, they couldn’t find them!!! I just knew this would happen, and had a Plan B, but I didn’t like my backup outfit as much. Eventually they found our things. Whew!

The other thing was the day before the wedding, one of my teeth started to hurt. I never mentioned it to anyone, but it hurt like mad. After we got home, I went to the dentist and was referred for a root canal which I had yesterday. It’s not as fun as it sounds.

I am FIRMLY back on Team Skirt thanks to current '80s influences on fashion! Waving to my Skirt Sisters :)

I love the '80s. I wanted to re-kindle my bubble skirt style as soon as the silhouette resurfaced. Took a while to land a perfect skirt. Needed the right bright, fit, fabric, length, and price. H&M had my skirt! H&M has DEFINITELY upped their game. Fantastic fabric, drape, soft knitted lining, and fit. Looks designer and cost $60.

It arrived very creased. I pressed it to look polished. It barely creases throughout the day. Versatile, and works with lots of my wardrobe.

Here are an assortment of bubble skirt outfits with different types of tops. Worn some looks already and felt AMAZING! The skirt moves beautifully, and is extremely comfortable and fun to wear. Playful Polish. (Maybe I should change my style moniker to this? Currently Urban Polish).
