I added this JCrew linen button up shirt last year in navy and found it so versatile to dress up or down with shorts and denim that I added the French Blue this year. For daytime I wore this French Blue JCrew linen button up shirt with white shorts with cognac accessories. Then I wanted a darker outfit for evening so I swapped the white shorts for dark wash jeans and navy suede heeled sandals for dinner with DH. The shirt pairs just as well with white bottoms as it does with dark bottoms to my eye. :) Thanks for looking! Here's what I wore to work yesterday. After a few blissful warm days we had frost again, so long sleeves and the trench coat are back in the game. At least I've been able to remove the extra-warm lining. Ling sleeved striped T and black pants (I like these for work Fridays, they're cut like jeans but in a chino fabric). I was about to wear sneakers or loafers then realized the ballet flats pulled it more feminine (and French). The outfit still was missing something so I pulled out my favourite scarf. It's a small square in a William Morris print, purchased at the MET on my only trip to NYC. Some on the forum have commented that they feel too contrived wearing a neck scarf... For me, this is just how I dress (although I'm not always channeling Inès). They are everywhere and at every price point and I've picked up a few. I used to fear looking like a flight attendant but I no longer care. This one is silk, and from Gap. I also love a good unlined car coat - and am glad that our lousy spring weather has afforded me the opportunity to wear my collection more than I ever have. This one is from Nice Things by Paloma S (a UK company ) and is at least a decade old . I marvel at the details and quality of construction (bound inside seams, horn buttons with the company name engraved around the edges etc). Crazy nylon pants from FP Movement which I LOVE for the white topstitching and zippers. A couple of years old . Platform sneakers - Janet also has these - which are also years old and whose name has worn off inside (Linnea Paolo or something like it) which I also love for the graphic details. Basic ribbed tank from Athleta . I felt good today - finally - after months of the opposite. I feel so much more like myself with lighter hair . Yesterday I had a trip to Auckland, a visit to IKEA, then to visit an Aunt, then to lunch at a rooftop seafood restaurant for my sister’s birthday, then drinks and then a comedy show and then home! My outfit had to last the 12 hours. It’s a shame I took the photo as I arrived home at 930pm. But it was comfortable, warm and appropriate for all those events! And I wore a brooch of my Mum’s. I felt this outfit mixed my sporty and bold and unfussy descriptors with the pattern mixing. My sisters both wore wide leg jeans and blouses and looked great. Today I had a local 50th birthday lunch with Prosecco and finger food. I wanted to wear my black long blazer and new skirt and so pulled out my old black top. I rewore the Scotch Thistle brooch as this top fights with a necklace with the high neck and tie. Lots of people used this as a chance to dress up so there were lots of lovely outfits. This time I took the photo prior to the event! This outfit was unfussy, elegant and maybe bold with the long jacket. But not sporty. The exercise to food ratio has not been too balanced but it was lovely to be a lady that lunches for two days in a row. Thanks for looking. I LOVE to wear big skirts. Bring on the swoosh, pleats, and volume! Found a gorgeous tan pleated skirt at The Rack for a bargain. Excellent quality and fit! Fabric has heft and is 100% cotton. POCKETS too! I almost returned the skirt because it's shorter than I had hoped. Glad I kept it! It's just long enough. Worn it four times!  I LOVE to wear fashion sweatshirts (with my pearls)! I've amassed quite a collection. All 100% cotton. The weather co-operated, and I'm feeling spiffy, refreshed,  comfy, and cheeky in my new Spring outfit formula ;)  The outfit formula is practical because: it's warmer than wearing a dress, it's dressy enough to wear with many of my clients, and casual enough to wear day-to-day. I can walk the doggies, run around town, edit wardrobes, and charge around a shopping mall = NO PROBLEM. On a hotter day, I bust out my new tie-dye cabled top from Polo Ralph Lauren. It was a gift from a dear friend who knows my style well! I remix Boho with Preppy. Honest! (#9 to #11). Forgot to take a pic of the outfit with the bag I wore that day.  Pics #15 to #19 shows how I enjoy dressing down slouchy navy pinstripe trousers with fashion sweatshirts a webbing belt and sneakers. Cold, warm, mild, rain, hail, wind, sunshine. My outfits reflect this. Generally, Seattle is having a lovely Spring, and we can't complain.  Spring shopping is my FAVOURITE, and I've done a lot of it  20 Years of YLF and my consulting business is making its mark.  New items are remixed with the old.  I keep forgetting to photograph my dressier outfits because I'm usually rushing out the door when I wear them. That said, when I edit and review wardrobes in client's homes - it's physical and hard work! I wear casual outfits for those client appointments, some of which you see here. Notably:  <ul> <li>Lots of non-neutrals. Lots of brights. Lots of white, which is bright too. </li> <li>My '80s gene is strong and because the '80s are trending - I'm wearing trendier tops than I usually do. I like short big boxy tops, rugby tops, and fashion sweatshirts! And I must wear them with pearls. </li> <li>I wear almost all on trend and fashion forward pants lengths and silhouettes. That said, when I want to feel my best, I wear PPL wide trousers and jeans. Hems skim the surface of the ground and no shorter. Pics #14 and #35 are examples. </li> <li>Pics #9-10 are pastel PINK.</li> <li>Pics #39 to 43 are WHITE. That white cabled cotton Brooks Brothers jumper is 9 years old and looks new. Great quality piece! </li> <li>Pics #12-15 are the BEST white pants of my life! New. Polo Ralph Lauren. Had the waist altered. Feel like a million bucks in these white pants. (Much better than the white Spanx pants in #40, which I enjoy wearing too). </li> <li>Pics #35-38 are the BEST orange pants of my life! New. Thankfully I still had all my work clothes as I still wear them at the weekends sometimes. I have never been a “corporate” dresser as I have always worked in a suburb with families and patients of all ages. As not a hospital I have not worn scrubs for 40 years since I moved into the community, during the start of the pandemic I wore PPE if seeing unwell people. So, in December I left the family doctor practice where I had worked for 34 years, but which I had sold in 2021. I was actually unwell some of last year and had surgery in July so had only come back half a day a week, which then didn’t feel enough, like “too many cooks will spoil the broth”- others looking at results I had ordered etc. I had January to April fully off, enjoying a trip to Queenstown for sister’s 60th birthday and also a week in Fiji over that time. Husband Neil also sold the vet clinic he had owned for 29 years at the end of January but is helping for some months by covering a young vet’s maternity leave. My old practice has been merged into another one 3 km further away as well, and driving 10 km instead of 7 km down one of Auckland’s busiest roads didn’t appeal either. So now I am week 2 in a different practice only 3 km from home with great staff parking but also on only one bus route rather than two, if I choose. Enjoying it so far. It’s autumn here and getting colder, they also run the aircon too cold in the new place. Today’s outfit: 2022 “Random” brand toffee merino, 42 wears. 2023 Joseph Ribkoff pants, 114 wears. 2018 Stitch Ministry bronze cardigan, my favourite cardigan. 223 wears! 2025 Pikolinos tan booties, now 16 wears.
