Hi Fab Ones,

I apologize for yet another boot post. Our cold weather is setting in and I actually find I have a wardrobe hole for a nice, simple pair of tall black boots that will worn with everything. My attention has been on ankle boots so tall boots have been neglected.

Last night I perused 12 online shoe sites with very little success. I did find some amazing sleek leather boots but completely out of my price range:). So I have to work with what is affordable.

For your info I have 1 pair of black suede flat over the knee boots, and a pair of wedge heel suede knee high boots. These are great bit no good for wet weather and not always the look I want particularly for dresses. I do have am very cheap pair is non leather black knee high boots but they are awful and I need to pass them on.

So these are the three contenders and I would appreciate your thoughts. I will hold my opinion so as not to sway anyone.

#1. I Love Billy "Molene" boot - not leather
nice shape, almost pointy toe but has buckles

#2. Gamins "Amazings" boot - not leather
Very sleek, drawback is the there is visible stitching at the top of the boot

#3. Bob Bons "Holly" Boot.
Remind me of my Hush Puppies ankle boot (that's a postive). - these are
leather

I am prepared to go without rather than buy something for the sake of it, but a tall black boot is a bit of a necessity for me in winter. These are all modestly priced and I can keep my search up for the perfect pair (which I may need to save for).

Do you think any of these would a good choice for me?

Of the three options, I vote 1- I like a little hardware.....!

Well I like #3 best. I like that they don't have much going on, a little wedge heel is comfy and the high buckle for adjustment to calf size is a bonus.
My second choice would be #1, they have a very modern look and a nice finish

I like #1, I think the shape fits in with your style especially with the angle at the top and the pointy toe.

It is difficult without seeing them on. I am going to go out on a limb and say for a tall boot I would prefer leather. I have seen some great quality non-leather items recently but still, given how a boot bends and moves as you walk, I would have to see the non-leather to be convinced it looked as good.

Putting that aside, I think I prefer the shape of #2 for you. You already have a suede wedge so a shiny heel makes sense to me!
Final thought: truthfully you always look so stylish you should go with your instincts, they have served you well so far!

Deb, in my experience it all comes down to the fit and it's all trial and error. Any of these could work, or none of them, and the only way to know is to give them a go. And good luck!

I love the simplicity and sleekness of #3 - and being real leather is a bonus IMHO. I would love to see you try these.

I prefer #3. At first I liked #2, and then noticed it's not leather.

Deborah - I think #3 is my favorite for maximum versatility although I must confess, there is a swashbuckling look to #1 which is really calling to me. But then I have a thing for all things pirate. You could stomp people in those boots. You are powerful, you weild sharp and pointy objects (if only kitchen tools!!) But you'll really have to try them on and see the quality IRL. But I love boot shopping!! Are there enough boots/booties in the world?!! I think not!!

I'd go for 3 and leather, but I could see any of these working for you if they fit. The first looks most trendy with the pointed toe. The second looks most sleek to let your clothing shine.

I love the style of #1 but I would never wear a synthetic boot. This is my own personal preference. I like the breathe-ability of leather so I would choose #3.

Angie, I turn 49!!' (I can't say that out loud) on June 11. I wonder if being born in winter has anything to do with my love of the cold weather?

I like #3 and #1, stylewise, and I lean toward #3 because it's leather. My preference for leather is based on your comment about your current boots. I think leather will be a nice change; it will wear well, be comfortable, and handle the elements (if maintained well).

Caro, thank you, yes I'm sorry I didn't respond on that thread. Really nice boots but I can't spend over $200. Also so many boots are 'almost' what I want but so many have too much embellishment and a lot of the sleek boots are very 'riding' boot style.

I had a pair of grey boots in the exact same shape as #3 (they were very popular a few years ago), and I wore them with everything, from leggings and skinny jeans to dresses - very very versatile!

I like all of them but also vote for 3, which fall in-between in terms of style (neither the sleekest nor the most accessorized) but also don't have the visible stitching of 2 (which I didn't like) or the over-buckling of 1 (which I thought might possibly work less well with your style). That 3 are leather is a bonus. I hope they fit well and feel wonderful! And happy birthday! Say 49 out loud and jump for joy! (I don't feel bad about being 50, but now that I am 50, I think I might have celebrated being 49 a little harder!)
