[YLF Secret Santa 2014] Whose Santa Were You?

Hello ladies,

Following the previous thread [YLF Secret Santa 2014] The Big Unwrap where most of us we shared the lovely gifts from our Santas (you can check the thread here), the time has come to reveal our identities. I hope that those gifts that had been delayed will reach their destinations in the next few days.

ETA: To answer Deborah's question from below, because I think others in similar situation might be interested too, please do what you find best if your recipient hasn't checked in yet.

Ready to reveal whose Santa you were? Did you guess correctly who you Santa was?

I'll start.

I was Karie's (hopefully) Secret Santa. Sending gift form Germany rapidly narrows the recipient's guesses down and I am still to think of a way of making it more complicated for guesses in the future, but I hope for our Queen Plaid it was still fun for to play.

Dear fun, funky and dressy Karie - I have mentioned in the card that several other ladies have the same necklace. I can now also reveal you're now necklace twins with MaryK, Aida and moi. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I know we all enjoy ours. And yes, it's a bookmark, from my favourite city in this part of Germany

On the other hand, being the organiser and seeing things back stage I knew who my Santa was, but I'll let her reveal her identity.

I was Jenny H's Secret Santa. I had hoped a long pendant was arty since she mentioned wanting to add a bit of arty flair to her style, so I used an Etsy seller whose wares I enjoyed. (The earrings are freebies she often throws in.)

I was jackiec's Santa - thrilled that she likes the gray scarf that I got her. The color and the light weight seemed perfect for her style and her climate. I actually picked it up during a trip to visit my parents in Indiana, and then it traveled home with me before wending its way up Canada way, so it's a well-traveled scarf.

I'm looking forward to finding out who my SS was - if only so I can hit her up for more homemade jam!

Wow, thanks Alassë! I love my new locket. I wore it yesterday but didn't have good enough lighting to take a photo since it was too dark when I left for work and again when I got home.

I was secret santa for biscuitsmom. I was able to find something similar to an item on her wishlist but with enough of a cost savings that I was able to also send a scarf so she would have the fun of something that was a complete surprise. Both were from Etsy sellers.

I was Elly's Secret Santa. I felt very stalker-Ish rummaging through her old posts for ideas, but that's how I came up with the idea of a Georgia O'Keeffe style necklace and tribal print for the scarf. I hope they work for you, Elly!

Laura (rhubarbgirl) ~~ thank you SO much for the gorgeous scarf! It is so perfect - I'm wearing it again today! It is so soft and unbelievably comfy. I keep it on for a long time after I get in from outside too. What a great story & a well-travelled scarf. It will be even more well-travelled after I take it with me over the upcoming holidays too

I was Secret Santa to Vivian (Viva), but I certainly wasn't very good at hiding my identity. I'm really glad she likes the book, chocolates, & Vancouver ornament (how obvious was that ). I know she's a reader and hope the book is good...I read a preview online and it was enough that I might get the eVersion when we go on vacation.

I was the secret Santa to Caro in Oz. She will have known that as the parcel came from NZ!

In reading through her posts I knew Caro was an arty person who liked sewing...hence the wrapping. Her wish list was not for clothing but for more useful home items so I decided to go that way. Not that a Christmas decoration is exactly useful!

I'm so glad the wallet I selected for you holds all your cards and cash without a problem, and I so hope the plaid pattern is to your liking. I saw a previous thread where you indiccated your love of this season's it print, so I thought I'd introduce into the inside of your disappointing (at the time) bag collection. I really need to give a special shoutout to Merwoman. She kindly agreed to be my eyes on this one and offer some visual feedback on what plaid pattern she thought looked most like you.
Have I mentioned lately that this community is the best, both online and in real life?

I was Secret Santa to Laura (rhubarbgirl)! This was my first time being in a secret santa exchange - and I had a blast overthinking it. Laura tolerated a new question from me almost every day as I tried to get to know her and what would make good gifts. So glad she's enjoying the jam (and wish I'd had a bigger one to send her - names were drawn just a few days after I'd given away my larger jar of strawberry-rhubarb)!

I'm looking forward to hearing who my secret santa was! The wallet was from etsy, so it's a big mystery to me.

I was UmmLila's Secret Santa. I went via Etsy this time instead of sending the present myself. As Ornella said, a German post stamp is rather obvious.

Keep your fingers crossed my present arrives soon! I bet it was customs again.

I was Deb's Secret Santa. I picked an item from her wishlist (the tea strainer) added tea, a giftcard toward another item on her list and I know she does not wear necklaces, but this was her colors so I took a chance and sent it as a wildcard.

I was rholmes27 Secret Santa. I definitely enjoyed 'overthinking' her gifts too. Yes, I did make those lip all-natural balms and designed the "YouLookFABstick" labels. Feel free to PM if you need a list of ingredients. I thought the scarf was good reference to your favorite color.

This was my first year, actually, my first time EVER, doing a secret santa gift exchange. As I drove my DD to her secret santa gift exchange party today, I told her that I was part of an international gift exchange and how exciting it felt to participate.

I was KL's Secret Santa! She had several Etsy-listed earrings on her wishlist, so I decided to make her some jewelry. I chose to make earrings and necklace using bird charms, because from her clothing and last year's wish list, I thought she liked birds!

jjsloane, thank you so much for my gifts. You did really well! I ran out of eyebrow pencil last night so the gift card will go toward that and I really needed the tea strainer because I broke my old one. Tea is always good and you are correct about my colors and will put the necklace to use.

Thank you so much Ornella! I love my plaid tights and can't wait to wear them and the necklace too! I am out of work this week due to eye surgery and then we're off school for two weeks for Christmas break, so it will be a while before I get to snap an outfit pic, but I am already putting an outfit together in my head! The bookmark was so appropriate since I am a reading teacher, and the skin creme will of course come in handy in my cold climate.

I was Deb's Secret Santa, and I goofed and signed the card. This was my first year doing SS (last year I had just had foot surgery and the year before I had just joined YLF) and I still should have known better, but I goofed it up anyway.I sent her a pair of silver earrings, which I hope will play nicely with her beautiful style!

Thank you so much, Caro! I do really love the scarf and wore it yesterday. I didn't have time to snap a photo... But I will try to recreate the outfit and get a photo... Or wear a bunch more times and photograph them!

I had Kiwigal, and let me just say, there was all kinds of drama going on in the background! I bought a dark pink statement-type necklace (because I thought that deep, saturated colors would fit nicely with your wardrobe and style). I was a day or so late getting to the post office (because I remembered the dates wrong!). At the post office, I was told that most international items were being held up in customs and it was unlikely that it would get there on time. I decided that it was worth it to pay the extra shipping to send it faster, whereupon I was told that I couldn't declare jewelry of any kind (even costume jewelry) on the customs label for express shipping! Then they told me that the computer didn't recognize the zip code I gave them... I told myself not to panic and went home, gift in hand. I verified the zip code, and then weighed all of my options. That's when I decided to put the shipping money into getting a slightly nicer gift and ordered from a New Zealand company that had free shipping. I know that translucent glass is as opposite as one can get from the deeper beautiful colors that you wear, but I thought maybe it would be a nice contrast if you pair it with those darker colors (and to be honest, I think it really is much nicer than what I had initially bought you). I just fell in love with the design and hoped you would like it too! The boutique that I ordered from was beyond wonderful! I emailed them and they assured me that they would gift wrap it, leave my anonymous secret Santa message, and ship it for free - all before the due date. And they delivered. I was so impressed! I hope that it ends up being something that works well with your style and your clothing.

I also echo the others in thanking Ornella for the wonderful organizing. This was so much fun!

ETA: I just realized that Kiwigal, Caro and I had a whole little gifting circle going on!

Thank you to Karie for her beautiful gift. The earrings are just stunning and so me:) I did know the parcel was from Karie upon opening but that did nothing to lessen how thrilled I was.

I was Keturah's SS but I note she has not checked in as having received her gift. I hope all is well and it has arrived.
