WWYW to the Academy Awards?

In my rich fantasy life, if I were going to the Academy Awards, what would I wear? My first inclination (and I think I'd have the guts to do it) would be to find a vintage Nudie suit, get it tailored to fit and enjoy the heck out of the evening. What would you choose?

The gallery was really interesting. I love those kind of outfits! Thanks for posting it. I think these ornate western suits seem better for the Grammys than the Oscars. A few weeks ago, KiwiSally posed this question along with a couple other situations.

I'm sorry if I made you feel bad. My post on its own was bizarre, without context. Also, I liked it because it was kind of funny (IMO, of course) so I didn't want to break it up, because the Oscars part was the blandest.

This dress by D2squared (or however these Canadian bad boys write their label name!). I might be inclined to have it made up in mustard yellow, and wear topaz (my birth stone) and gold.

Hmm. What I'd wear to Get Stopped for Snaps on The Red Carpet (Elie Saab) v. what I'd wear simply to attend isn't the same... I have to think about the latter. Very deep.

I was pretty clear what I would wear if I was at inauguration (a power suit effectively) and on a royal tour (a midi dress, classic with some movement).

At the Academy Awards I would choose a long dress, classic, flattering, in a bold simple colour. It would depend on if it was me at 46 or me at 26 or at 76, and whether I was the plus one or the nominee. With my shape I need some structure but this is an occasion I would go down a bombshell route, unlike most others.

I posted this green dress as one that I like, and two others that I adore on the women that wore them....(these are my two favourite Oscar dresses of all time).

I think I might see what Dolce and Gabanna could do for me! I know they've been controversial and sorry I haven't properly researched why ( might go on the desktop and do that after this), but I just love the kind of Spanish or religious iconography feel of some of their designs

ETA: ah, researched it... all sorts of controversies, the one I was vaguely aware of was the IVF one... well as I would never be ACTUALLY doing this, in my fantasy it will be one of their Spanish-type dresses with red flowers on, some amazing red shoes, and some kind of tiara on my head. tried to download a photo but didn't work. Never mind- in my dreams, anyway!
