Today is the 7th anniversary of Ellie's death. Her favorite movie at the end was Night at the Museum (she watched it more times than I can count) and it just so happens that the third movie is coming out TODAY. We have a group at the theater watching it shortly and at the exact same time there is another group of family out Montana watching it! We have tee shirts that we made with Ellie's photo on them so John and my in-laws wore their shirts. Ethan did his own thing and I couldn't resist getting a photo of him at the mall with Adam Levine's photo. (Ethan is obsessed with Adam right now.. And has been inspired to wear skinny jeans.) I am so happy with my outfit. neutral, lots of texture and low contrast!

Sarah - such lovely photos of your family , and I think your son thinks he's Adam Levine I can only imagine how hard this day is ,yet comforting to have your family around you. I think you've chosen a really nice outfit for today - soft, gentle, and interesting. Hope the movie is fun - it's a family favourite here too.

Thanks so much you guys! It has been a wonderful and fun and sad and theraprutic day! We have laughed and cried... so much like we did the first year. And I will neither confirm nor deny that my sister smuggled a little wine into the movie... ahhhhh. My sister also brought me a late bday gift which reminds me of Angie's post on tee shirts with words. This is a statement I can totally get behind (I had to try the top on and post in front of the display...) "A pair of shoes can change your life"

It was a day filled with immense strength and sadness, and my heart goes out to you and your family. You all look and are fabulous. Honouring precious Ellie, and celebrating her life is so very cathartic and meaningful. She can feel your spirit, as she looks down on you from her big fluffy cloud in the sky. Thank you all so much for the sweet words of encouragement! The movie was delightful. There were so many times when I could just picture Ellie laughing. It was perfectly fitting to watch on that day... When lying in the bed, watching the first movie, Ellie would pull herself up a little and slap her leg and just giggle over certain parts of the movie. Other times she would shake her head and groan with embarrassment over something that she thought was mortifying. I loved watching her excitement and engagement over such silliness. I defininely knew the exact moments in the movie last night when Ellie would have laughed. And then I would look over at my nine year old niece and watch her giggle... It was such a therapeutic night. Then we went to a restaurant and face-timed with our Montana family. I don't know how or why we managed to get such an amazing, group of family who would bear our sorrows with such love... but I'm forever grateful.

And... best compliment of the evening was when Ethan looked at my jeans and said "are those jeans ripped? That is SO cool." He may not think his mom is cool when he is 16, but for now, I'll take it!
