Every year I surprise Ethan and take him out of school for a day. Today is the day! We went out for breakfast, did a little shopping (nerf guns, of course), rode go karts, and now for a movie (empty theater since all the other kids are in school). This is our day to play hookey from work and school and blow time and money however we see fit! Upon special request, I wore my chucks.

The best part of the day has been talking, and really listening to, my son. I love how his mind works. I thought you all would appreciate how he explained cars to me in a way I would understand. He was telling me that a particular car didn't handle as well as another. When I questioned him as to how he could possibly know that (being 11 and all) he said that he had done some driving on video games and could tell by the shape of the car that it would handle in a certain way. And then he said "you know, Mom, how when you are looking at clothes online and you can just tell that something isn't going to be comfortable? It's because you have tried on something similar before and you can compare it to that." Yeah... He makes fashion analogies from cars. I love that kid!
