WIWs: Raspberry blazer (MaryK's pick) and gray day

1-3. Yesterday I wore a Tulle raspberry blazer that MaryK picked out for me when we had our YLF mini-meetup on Wednesday (so much fun!). And an Emilio Pucci silk scarf that I bought along with it. Never heard of these brands before, and I was hesitating on the scarf because it seemed expensive, but I just loved the color and pattern. Loehmann's was great because they sell all kinds of designer stuff at a discount. The blazer ended up being $30 and the scarf $40 after discounts that you get for signing up for their club card. Will have to make another visit there when I have more time (we only had 20 minutes to shop!). I wore a brown BR shirt and gray Theory trousers with it. Couldn't decide if I should do brown or black shoes and went with black at the last minute--do you think brown or black works better for this outfit? Do I look OK in a blazer? I am not used to wearing blazers--I was worried that I look like an airline stewardess with my blazer and scarf. Or a drug rep, LOL. (They always send attractive, well-dressed men & women to come hand out pens and chat about their latest drug). But my husband liked it and said I looked nice. If I do look OK in blazers, what color is best to look for if I want to get another one? Gray, camel, brown, black or navy? What is the most versatile? Also, I have no idea what I'm doing with the scarf...I don't know how to tie them and I've never worn them before. I seem to have collected a bunch of scarves the last couple months, even though I haven't decided if I am a scarf person yet. Any good resources on ways to tie scarves?

4-7. Casual MOTG outfit. Monochromatic is a little unusual for me since I usually like a little bit of color...this is all gray, with a touch of black & white. Even the cat is gray, LOL! Is it OK for the tunic to be lower than the cardigan in the back? I was trying to avoid the tummy pooch that was showing the last time I posted this top, so I put on the black belt to distract the eye.

Natalie, that scarf and jacket are making my heart pound! You may have to recommend a colleague in Denmark who can diagnose me with raspberry jacket and Pucci scarf envy! Which I predict will go viral :).

Hej Lynne, do you live in Denmark? One of my best friends lives there...she was an exchange student when we were in high school. I've been there once to visit her for three weeks when I was in college and fell in love with Denmark! She taught me some useful Danish phrases too, like Rødgrød med Fløde (red berries with cream). Actually, maybe I should call this my Rødgrød med Fløde blazer!

Natalie, I think perhaps both of these pants are a bit too long with these shoes? Your new scarf is GORgeous!! I like the black shoes here; matches the saturation level of your jacket. You look fine in blazers If you find you're still feeling a bit uncomfortable with them, try wearing with jeans for a smart casual look until your eye adjusts. As for what color to look for next, if you decide to get another, what color topper are you currently missing? Of the colors you listed, any one of them could be considered versatile depending on the particular closet it will be joining. I have no problem with a little bit of tunic peeking out from underneath the cardigan in the second outfit.

Natalie, I swear you have got to be the fastest learner in YLF history! I love how ou arej umping in with both feet! Love the blazer and scarf on you, and the MOTG look is just adorable!

I think you look great in blazers! I do agree with Aida that the pants seem a bit long (or the heels a bit short!). And to my eye it's perfectly fine for the tunic to come below the cardi in back.

And you can wear blazers. Definitely. It's hard for me to see the colour of your trousers, but the black shoes look good and I'm guessing brown would work fine too (a nice chocolate brown).

I would, maybe, get both the blazer and pants taken in a bit.

I love your monochromatic MOTG look. On my monitor, the cardigan reads as almost a greyish plum color, is that the case? I admire your use of the belt, and your tummy does not look AT ALL poochy!

Thanks all! Yes, I am jumping in with both feet and no looking back! I agree with you all, the pants are too long..they are supposed to be worn with heels but I wanted comfortable feet. The Theory pants were hemmed for a mid-height heel but I was wearing a kitten heel because I was at work. And today I was going shopping so I wanted to wear some comfortable shoes for walking. I was going to wear my new pair of 7 for all mankind black legging-like skinnies (that I bought on sale at Amazon) with the ballet flats, but when I put them on this morning, they felt like they were too loose and slipping down--I had to keep hitching them up. I think it was because they were really stretchy. Fortunately I hadn't removed the tags yet so I am going to return those and return to the drawing board for some black skinnies. So that's why I ended up trying to wear the Long & Leans with the flats, but I ended up stepping on my pants the whole time. I felt like I had bought so many jeans, but even then I still don't have enough for all the different heel heights!

Glad you all think I can wear blazers. Because I got another one today...in mustard yellow! Somehow I've become bright color and print crazy! (Must be the MaryK effect). I just can't get excited about buying neutrals, LOL. I'm cuckoo for colors!

#1-Pretty red blazer, and great new scarf. I really like the colors in the scarf on you.
#4-I don't mind the longer back with the top vs cardigan lengths. That belt is the perfect placement here on you.

Love the casual look, maybe you just need higher heels with those pants.

As for the drug rep thing, you could tie the scarf to your purse, or try searching some Angie threads about scarf tying tricks. There are some less conventional methods that will take you out of flight-attendant territory.

You look great, but I also agree about the pant length. I think I said I was not sure about the top in the last outfit when you first posted it, but I think the belt really works well with it. It's a great top!
