WIW's - a few tweaks needed & thoughts

Here are 2 WIW's from the weekend/today.

1. today for school run and errands. I made this shirt over the weekend - its a dolman made from very fine fabric so rather slippery. I really like the look of it, but think perhaps I need a bit more "something" around my neck/chest. Nicer shoes would have been good too, but these were the closest ones I grabbed while running late... oops!

2. shopping on the weekend - I was busting to wear my new cream peeptoe flats, but they really don't work do they?LOL I was hoping they would pick up some of the paler colours in the top, but I think this will need darker shoes next time.

From a few of my most recent WIW's and experiments at home, I've really started to define the exact things I feel most ME in...

Tailored bottom - well fitting shorts/skirt
"fancy" top - either like these two fabrics, or embellished etc
Top must be tucked in and I need a belt

Belting is my new "must do every day" thing!! Its hot and I'm sweaty but I feel me...

All thoughts most welcome

Theresa - I am very impressed by the shirt in picture #1. I think that you look fabulous and that this outfit does not need any additions. However, if you are feeling too "bare" around the top of the shirt, maybe add a shorter strand of beads to fill in the space. The cream peeptoes are awesome, but I agree that they just seem a bit off with this look. It sounds as though you are developing a great sense of your personal style.

I do like your look in #1 and agree that you need something more around your neck and clavicles (: A shorter necklace, maybe? Or you can try layering a top underneath <: Good luck!

Your shoes are cute <3 I agree though that they don't go too well with your outfit; go darker next time or add more white/pastels at the top. Your shoulders seem a little lonely, as well >: On another note, have you considered trying an untucked shirt and raising the belt for a cinched high waistline look? XD I'm just curious about how that would look on you!

You look fab in both outfits! I like your style that's emerging with good fitting bottoms, the tops having the major interest, and the belting. It also seems like you prefer not to have lots of extraneous pieces on - but maybe that's more during the hot weather?

Either way, keep it up - you look great!

Angie I haven't had my hair cut at the front - just the back - I got a bit bored so decided to grow the front out a bit!! This is 2 months without a trim at the front.

When it cools down a bit (it was over 30C at 7.30am today!), I can picture the top in #1 with a top under it - I know the perfect top LOL And yes, when it cools down, I will be layering again

I am really struggling to find beads I like that are short enough for this type of top - but I need to find some, because I have a few tops I want to fill in... I'm bored with the one set that I have been using lately! I think you gals are right and they would do the trick though.

Wow, you look wonderful. I'm so impressed that you made that dolman top yourself. I would buy that! I love both looks.

I don't think you really need to add anything to #1 - it's a fantastic look as is. However if you feel like it does, perhaps a shorter necklace or pendent would do the trick. Really lovely though. The halter is so flattering though I do agree that you could do better by #2 than the peep toes.

Love them both, they are simple but have strong lines which is interesting. I don't think you need to change the jewelry in #1 (necklace shown works). This is an outfit you could dress up with the addition of just bright lipstick plus a pair of slingbacks instead of flats.

That makes it so versatile, practical for travel.

What about pairing the shoes from #1 with the outfit #2?

LOVE outfit #1. It is perfect just as is, and that top is fantastic!
Something about outfit #2 is not grabbing me as much. I love the top... I loved it the first time you posted, but I'm wondering if pairing it with lighter bottoms might work better. The black shorts just seem a bit heavy to me
