WIWinWinter: pattern matchy and mix-y

This is the last group of outfits I had fun wearing in colder weather, as it's been mostly quite warm in the PNW now (knocks on wood).

#1 double leopard -- Loft coat, Macy's top, J Brand/Ross boyfriends, Clarks booties, random thrifted leather bag, thrifted men's leather alligator texture belt.

Not totally sure about wearing my baggiest bf's with this (although it felt fine at the time), or whether to repeat with more of a slouchy skinny style pant.

#2 double plaid - grandpa's scarf, Marshalls white sweater, LaMarque/Rack leather jacket, thrifted and dyed plaid jeans, G for Guess booties, thrifted cat bag (I take this bag to the pet store a lot )

#3 mixed media - Cynthia Rowley top, CK men's belt, same jeans and jacket, Diesel/Rack leather sneakers, thrifted fauxfur crossbody bag.

All feedback and suggestions for improvement welcome, I may repeat them with tweaks on cool days.

Excuse me while I get over my envy of the fact that "colder weather" for you entails leather jackets and no socks.

Sigh.

This, for me, would herald "warmer" temps. And dressing like a real human being. !!!!!

Okay, now that I have got that off my chest, you look amazing in all of these.

I like #1 with the baggy BFs but it would look equally good with a less baggy pant.

#2 made me smile so hard!! LOVE it. An inspired pattern mix, and what a bag!

#3 is such a fun play of textures and colour blocking (as well as pattern mixing). You're a fashion genius in my books, who can do no wrong.

you had me at 'leopard on leopard' - love your double plays!

Jeans in #1 look great, love the drape and how the faded wash serves as a counter point to the darker elements (boots and that coat!).

Plaid on plaid is stellar in #2 - grandpa's scarf plays so nicely with that great bag!

And all those prints in #3 could get out of control, but you brilliantly keep it together with a limited colour palette.

Wonderful looks. Seemingly bold but they all maintain such superb balance that everything looks controlled. The leopard/leopard reads almost as texture and #3 is skilled pattern mixing. And I love the cat bag. One of my kittens is eyeing it over my shoulder at I look at this post...

Fabulous all around. I think the bf jeans work in #1, and actually it is my favorite, but slouchy skinnies would probably work too. Love how the boots work in #2 and the leather jacket is excellent on you. I am really struck how perfect the sneakers in #3 are for you with your fair skin and dark hair.

Isabel and Suz -- Aw, thanks. Actually these posts were my few most favorite winter outfits, so you aren't seeing the ones that were more works in progress But I have plenty of works-in-progress for spring and summer and some could definitely benefit from forum help.

Suz - apologies, that was a warmer day and a little unfair to group in while you guys are soldiering on through the white drifts.

AM- that's a good point, pattern can read as texture and vice-versa. Lol at your kitty. I can fit cans of cat food and bags of treats in there so it's good for a quick errand to the shop.

shevia - thanks, yes, I found that black and white shoes were very useful, these unfortunately are well-loved and the stuffing is coming out at the heel since the inner lining is so worn away, so I'm hoping b/w oxfords can take over part of their role.

trekkiegirl - thanks!. Carrying a bag was pretty new to me about a year ago, but I really quickly got into how it could add something to an outfit and combed Goodwill for interesting bags that worked with my wardrobe.

Really interesting pattern mixing. To my eye 2 and 3, 3 especially, work really well, whereas 1 reads as more busy. I think the baggy BFs are fine though.

I like them all! I think the boyfriend jeans are super with outfit 1, and it would also work with skinnies. The leopard on leopard is a great idea and works well. Also plaid on plaid in 2 and your pattern mixing in 3.
A little like Suz, I was thinking a short-sleeved top is not what I wear in winter, even in our mild winter this year. But that's me--I run cold, as Angie puts it. Even in summer, I tend to wear a cardigan over my short-sleeved tops.

#2 and #3 are gorgeous too. Especially love the shoes in #3.

I got a leopard coat at the sales. It has a removable fuzzy collar. Maybe I should try removing it...

Thanks Scarlet - Good to know that the layered pattern mix doesn't work quite as well as the others to your eye.

Firecracker - thanks, I think rachy once mentioned regency dressing styles, or multiple changes during the day depending on what one is doing. I'm like that, so I'll wear warmer and cooler clothes during the same day depending when I'm venturing out of the house, so my short-sleeves tend to get out and about in winter too (under a jacket outside, but not as much indoors).

#2 and #3 are my favorites - I love the plaid pants! Perfect stylings in every outfit. And that bag in #2 is super fun.

These are just so, so wonderful!!! I love the slouchy bf jeans in 1, and i'm all over the mixed animal prints! 2 is just genius styling and very chic on you. And agreeing with Shevia: those shoes in 3 are stellar!
