Wiw yesterday. With heels!

I decided I should try to get used to wearing high heels, so have brought them into the office to wear them in - and here they are - not that you can even tell they are in this photo! 3 inches and fairly thin! I lasted til lunchtime!
I wanted to show a work picture to show Trekkiegirl that I do wear colourful makeup (lippie and eye shadow in this one) but I really don't think this photo show it!
Old YLF's will have seen this dress a lot. I've had it since around 1999 - still going strong!

You look lovely in that dress. It's perfect for your colouring, and the fit looks great all over, and particularly around the shoulder/armhole area (which I find terribly difficult to get right). I can't believe the dress is from 1999! It must have been a quality brand in the first place, but even so ...

How sensible to bring a spare pair of shoes in so that you could break in the higher heels. I hope your feet feel fine today.

Thanks Ruth. I didn't work today and my feet have been fine in my flat sandals...
I learnt the trick of wearing in shoes at the office from a former colleague. We all had extra shoes in our drawers!
The dress was from the Australian shop Portmans which I have always found make very long wearing woven clothes. I did take it in a little around the upper hip to avoid the hip flap that I often used to get (because I have my hip width quite low down).

Lovely fit on that dress! You've done well if you've had it that long - a classic design and not dated looking at all.

I keep some of my heels in my locker at work or I bring them in my bag because I mostly commute in flats. Most would be 2 inches or less though (2.5 inches is my limit) which is where I am comfy for work shoes.

I too,eally prefer 1.5 or at most 2 inches in blocky heels or wedges. But I have so few work suitable shoes, that it occurred to me that perhaps I should try to get a few more wears out of this black pair. I bought them quite some years ago - maybe 5 years - and Angie warned me that I'd find it too high and she was absolutely correct. But they were quite expensive, and I didn't have any highheeled pumps (or Mary Janes, which is the closest I can wear to pumps) so I have kept them as sitting shoes and wear them to interviews and the like.

Thanks Karie - we were writing at the same time. I haven't done much to keep the dress going apart from a couple of seam repairs - it is the quality of the fabric that has done it. Just machine wash and doesn't even need ironing.

Ruth M I think the armhole fits well because it has neck darts at the top - can really help.
