Happy Thursday!

We are expecting a 37 degree day today and thankfully most of it will be spent in my air conditioned office:)

My black slouchy pants are a little less slouchy after being washed (followed the washing instructions!)... but hey:)

Black high low tunic Tshirt layered under cobalt blue tunic blouse, worn open kind of like a "Duster" coat.

In the mirror this looked a bit cooler (in a style sense) but in pictures I think the tunic makes me look like a block lol.

#1 Thought I would be "radical" and try a new 'pose'

#3 is how I have worn it previously and I think I prefer the more streamlined effect of this combo.

I'm not totally unhappy with the look but not sure it is worthy of repetition

As always your thoughts and opinions are much appreciated.

That shade of cobalt blue is very flattering on you! I prefer #3, and I don't think you could ever look like a block

I like #3 best like you do, but the arty fabness of #1 is great too! When you're hot - you need to wear breezy stuff! End of story.

I agree with Karie - you couldn't look like a block if you tried Deborah! Maybe you're just not comfortable with the tunic hiding your shape? I love the cobalt and black colour combination and think the outfit looks lovely

Angie thanks for the encouragement:). Someone needs to write a book on how to dress stylishly in excessive heat! It's very challenging for someone who likes to layer:)

That's exactly why I find the warmer months so much more challenging style-wise Deborah - I can't use my blazers as much and feel like I lose MY style in the heat.

Oh, echoing what everyone is saying. Dressing for heat is SO HARD and from my perspective you do it brilliantly. I love #3 best, but you also look terrific in #1. And your hair is looks superb!!!

I love it. Yes, I am a sucker for cobalt blue but I love the multiple layers of this outfit. The cap sleeve is so flattering on you and I love the cropped ruffled cardigan. I agree with you it is streamlined -- yet there's volume on volume and #3 happens to be my favorite of all. I love the strong shoulder and the nice contrast between the flat center line where the dress is buttoned up and the texture and volume of the ruffles. Bravo!

I agree that it is much harder to look 'cool' when the temp is high but I think you look great in both versions.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I need to look at Angie's summer black dress formula again, and perhaps really concentrate on developing a formula that works for me on these days.

The day is getting hotter and it's quite uncomfortable:( Shouldn't complain tho as it is much hotter where Anne and Jen are, and I think Caro too. We share our office with our Emergency Services team and there are phone calls in and out as they monitor the fire risk. Apparently conditions are reminiscent of those just before the Black Saturday fires in 2009. Please keep us in your thoughts as many communities will be seriously at risk over the next week or so.

Oh dear, I remember those. I will keep Australia in my thoughts for staying safe.

Bless you Mochi, thank you. I co-ordianted a relief program for 2 years after the fires, the loss and the impact was just devastating. At the time I was living in Melbourne where there was no such risk, but I now live in regional Victoria, in a residential area but surrounded by bushland... so for the first time I have had to consider the possibiilties.. its a little scary.

First your outfit - I love your arty pose and how it shows the angle of your hair. I understand why you prefer the tunic closed, and usually prefer things buttoned up too, but you look great both ways. Second, best wishes about getting through the dry season safely. It is natural to be concerned after working with people who suffered through the fires.

Deborah, all versions of this are lovely and you look wonderful in cobalt! I think one of the key elements of your style is your ability to "boss' your clothing and make it do more than the designer ever conceptualized. I would never have thought to wear a tunic open as a duster! I realize it would be hotter, but you could also belt it open if you fear looking like a block (which, of course, you don't).

My thoughts prayers are with you and your fellow Aussies. Fires are a great risk here too, at certain times of the year.

Deb: I love these colors on you and know you love them too. I was just going to make a suggestion of perhaps trying one item in a non-Deb color/month to see how you like it? I think you have glorious skin and hair that would look ultrafab with browns, yellows, the right shade of pink, purple and emeralds.

Just some food for thought.

I think 1 is more summer wear but both are pretty
