Hi,

I've been trying out some softer colors. Here are some recent outfits.

#1-Blush
This sweater was love at first sight.

#2-Chestnut
Another new shade I'm trying out.

#3-Tan
This is from NAS last year and I am finally getting around to wearing it.

#4-Navy and Turquoise
Trying to soften the navy blazer with another blue shade.

#5-White and Brown
Inspired by Angie's white and brown ensemble.

You are wowing me with your lightening up! 1-3 are my faves. So fresh to my eye. I think I bought the same gap top in 2 and am thinking the color is much better on you. Love the pink and the mushroom sweaters. The simplicity of 3 is so striking!

I adore #3. Wow!! That is just so equestrienne elegant on you, Lisa. I share your goal to "lighten up" a bit, and am waiting on a couple of new ivory sweaters to help in that.

Good tryouts! I think I like 2 and 3 colors best, though the photos and monitors can be misleading. If you are "warm" you may want to really try on a range of these lighter neutral colors and pick your best (range of best), or even decide to limit yourself to certain ones, because then they'll harmonize with each other and with accessories.
I'm not trying to be the color police, just sharing that I began to say yay/nay more consistently in order to impose some order and versatility on my wardrobe and I'm not there yet, but it's helping.

I agree that 2 and 3 are really lovely on you color (and other) wise. But it is tricky to tell on my monitor!

Yes, #2 and #3 are my favourites,too. They just make your skin glow!

How fun! I love the sweater in 3 on you, and I also think you look fabulous in the creamy shades with the brown pants in #5. To me, the blue under the navy doesn't lighten it up enough, and it's rather a stark illustration of how much more flattering I find the lighter colors on you. I just find the other looks softer and more complimentary to your skin. Perhaps you could try the blazer over the sweater in #2.

I'm also loving these softer colours on you, Lisa. I find the pink blush in outfit 1 very flattering, and that's a great sweater. I also love the cool taupe in outfit 3 and the white on white in the last outfit (fab jacket too). I also like how you've paired the camel pullover (a warmer colour) in outfit 2 with the scarf with those beautiful blues, and you can never go wrong with blue on blue (outfit 4

Oh, and I like Sharan's suggestion of trying the blue blazer with the camel pullover.

Elly-Thanks! I'm trying to keep softer colors in mind when I shop. I don't expect to always purchase a softer color, but I'm trying to try them out first before I grab the usual darker colors.

Suz-Thanks! I'm finding these softer colors a challenge to shop for (they often wash me out) but when I find one that works I'm snatching it up.

Unfrumped-Thanks! Some great advice. Shopping for these softer colors is a real work in progress and many of them seem to wash me out. But they are a refreshing change from darker colors.

Inge-Thanks! I admit that the scarf helped me with deciding to pair the blue and brown together for #2. I would not have thought to do so on my own. I find prints really help me mix together color combinations I would not have thought to pair otherwise.
