WIW to get really dirty (+new photo)

ETA: My colleague just sent me a full length photo he took, so I am adding it at the bottom!

I am just home, have to sluice off and head back out to get kids and then out to a friend's for supper. I am totally filthy and destroyed my hands but had a super fun day.

Here's my dig style:

Yes, we think we might have found a village site., that we will explore more next season. We found pottery and some deer bones and some stone tools today. It was a fun little unit!

This actually looks familiar - when I was in high school I had a summer job on an archeological site. They were excavating indian pit houses (this was near Albuquerque, NM). It was fun, but very, very hot.

Sore! I have blisters ringing both thumbs and the little muscles across my palms between my metacarpals and base of thumbs feel strained, but it was still fun. My shoulder and upper back feel sore too but in a good I-did-heavy-work-for-a-day way. I was joking with my colleague yesterday that I should market the Archaeologist Fitness program. It involves digging a hole, hoisting buckets full of dirt to be screened, screening all the dirt, squatting and getting up about a million times, and then shovelling all that dirt back into the hole. It's a full body workout!

I have to get my upper body and hand strength up again if I want to wield a shovel and trowel more often...swanning about in the lab looking at bones is a different animal!

I missed this too. I don't think I've seen you without your glasses before and you look great but I kind of miss them. I suppose gloves don't help much with this sort of work. It sounds like you had fun.
