I collected enough outfits to make a post worthwhile, so please pardon the extra forum time. Outfits 1-5 are the beginning of Capsule C for summer, containing the last of my new tops (2 not pictured yet). Almost there (fall)!

Outfits 6-7 are the form-fitting "what is my shape" pictures. I'm curious to hear your take. I've always assumed I was a pear, but lately when I look in the mirror, I almost see hourglass. Perhaps a combination?

As before, if you have any suggestions on how to further my style/proportions /use of colour/accessorization/hair/shoes/makeup/etc., fire away. Thanks for reading!

I like the waist definition and subdued colors in your outfits, it's very becoming for you. I think my favorite is the first one...dots are just so much fun! I'll leave the shape question to more knowledgeable ladies. I think of you as an hourglass with your waist though.

Dark green is a nice infusion! #1, 3, 4, and 5 have really nice proportions. You're wearing the belt in #4 in a particularly good spot, proportion-wise. The blouse in #3 is both pretty and grown up; I like that a lot.

I see a long-waisted hourglass X re. your shape. Maybe your long waist made you feel you were a pear - which I don't see.

I think you are an hourglass too, as your shoulders seem to be similar to your hips. More the X type than the 8 type. You have a lovely shape.

I think the polka dot top is great on you, I think I have seen it before and I like it just as much this time.

Number #1 is just about perfection on you.
It's hard to tell from teh phots - do you shoulders come out as far as your hips? If so, then hourglass. If your hips jut out further, then pear. Since you usually wear flared skirts that emphasize your slim waist, you generally give the impression of being a slim hourglass.

Alasse, our shapes are more similar than I realised! I see long waisted X hourglass too, although I'm definitely not an expert.

Love the polka dot & how it tucks into that skirt in #1! Breathtaking. The waist is a bit higher than you usually wear, which makes you look super leggy (interesting how just a couple of inches can make that big a difference!). Your regular belting spot is excellent too & makes you look very 'proportional,' as Rachy says. Also, I love the bow belt. And it's fun how you combined very similarly coloured tops & skirts to make a dress effect! Your hair always looks great, so no suggestions there. Just admiration for all those pretty curls. hehe

What the others said on body type. Long waisted slim hourglass - and a lovely graceful shape it is.

#1 is just fantastic on you! It looks so very pretty tucked into the skirt.

Thank you for weighing in, Kiwigal! I knew I wasn't an 8 shape from reading Imogen's site, so X was no-brainer choice.

Thank you, MuseumGal! My shoulders aren't as big around as my hips - 36.5 shoulders, 38-39 hips. Based on measurements, therefore, I always assumed pear (that and once I was told never to wear straight skirts, only flared, because of my hips).

E, more similarities to you is a good thing in my book. Yes, that waist is a lot higher; shall I tell you why? It is a dress. I cut apart a polka dot dress that felt too twee and made the polka dot skirt from a couple WIWs and this 2-fer dress. I got the bow belt when I admitted I really like sweet/feminine, so I should embrace it.

Thanks for commenting, Suz! I guess I'll go with the hourglass consensus since you twisted my arm.

Ok, I was going to comment on how eerily similar the polka dot top & skirt were! hehe Sounds like a great DIY project. Now that I've begun using a sewing machine, I'm looking at my closet to see if anything could be fixed by a quick straight line hem or two (not up for anything fancier at the moment). lol It's funny how we have to 'admit' we enjoy sweet/traditionally feminine stuff, isn't it? But I went through the same experience: now I just figure I'll be an empowered, bow-bedecked woman.

I bet the reason why you're an hourglass, despite your measurements, is that more of your hip measurement is in 'depth' rather than 'width' (or to put it differently that measurement shows up mainly in profile), so head-on your shoulders look equal to your hips. And more similarities to you is also a good thing in my book!

Haha, Eva! I love the "bow-bedecked woman" line. Age appropriate, of course.
Yes, I was wondering if straight on vs. side view was the key. If it helps any, here's a side picture I dredged up of me at my skinniest (usually more tummy), plus the front picture that got me wondering if I could possibly be an hourglass. I couldn't see a pear looking so, well, pleasingly balanced.

You look very balanced in both of those pics, so you definitely look like an hourglass!

And yes, I try to keep the bows age appropriate, hehe.
