WIW: Sweater over button-down and shoe-off

I bought new Frye Courtney lace-ups. The first picture is under a pair of white straight leg jeans. The outfit felt a bit foreign to me, although I would have felt fine with my red coat if I was leaving the house. I think I need to feel like something in this outfit is "me" and right now I don't know what that is. I went to a mom's meeting the other day with my puffer and someone asked me where my trusty red coat was. lol. I guess that is what I mean about "owning" it.

I switched to my skinnies, pulled my hair back, and put a favorite pair of earrings and then wondered which shoe appealed to me most. I felt much better, and equally at home with the tall boots and the Docs. I think the new Fryes are perhaps too dark for me in this particular outfit, or maybe I just need to become accustomed to them.

I really like the version with the blue jeans! I think the one with the white jeans looks good too, but I'm such a non-white-jeans person myself that I have a hard time judging how well outfits with them work on other people, so will leave it to more clueful people to give more substantive comments there. And you have an enviable boot collection! To me, all the shoes work, but I think my favorite is the burgundy Docs because they keep with the cool tones in the sweater and shirt and kind of add a pop of color.

I forget whether I've commented on the red coat before when you've shown pics with it, but that's definitely a signature piece that looks amazing on you!

I really like the outfit with the blue jeans. The white is good too but I would like some contrast between the button down and the bottoms...Maybe a different color or a plaid.
I love your frye boots! And I don't think the color is too dark. I hope you'll keep and wear.

My favorite is #2 I think, but I actually really like all of these...and I love those Frye's. I adore my Frye's though, so I'm hopelessly unbiased on that count! I hope you play around with them some more. And you wear that button-down-under-sweater look SO well! I think I need to look into that AT top...it looks fabulous on you!

Love your style! That VC sweater is gorgeous and it looks fantastic layered over your white shirt with jeans. I'm thinking I would try the VC sweater either without a shirt under it, or bold plaid (with lots of white) with your white jeans.
