I had a serious sore throat this morning and just generally feel a cold coming on, which doesn't put me in the best of moods. So I just wanted something very simple, that would keep me cool, and that would feel delicious against my skin. So I grabbed this silk-cotton voile blouse, which is so soft and delicate I think the word gossamer might apply. It's deliciously floaty too: perfect comfort hot weather dressing. Since it's quite fluid, I opted for my narrowest short option (still loose, just not as poofy as some of my others), which is conveniently in a linen-cotton blend I also enjoy. Usually I'd a brooch as a 'third piece,' but this blouse has a subtle self-fabric bow at the neckline, and adding a brooch felt fussy today. I did put on my favourite silver snake ring and a bracelet so light I don't notice I'm wearing it, more comfort dressing. This has been just the thing for my day at home. I got lucky with my hair: I slept in yesterday's updo & took it down to discover cute little curls this morning! Curls boost my mood too, so I'm wearing it down. I didn't even bother with foundation, so my 2 minute make up routine only took 1 minute, which was about how much patience I had.

I went for my walk early (so I wouldn't put it off) so just added sunscreen to my wrists/hands rather than fuss with a full sleeve topper (if this blouse just had full sleeves, it'd be my perfect summer top). Since my hair was down, and I didn't feel like fussing with sunscreen, I put on my true sunhat; I got this at REI last summer before going to Ecuador (I spent some time in the Amazon so figured I needed a serious, packable hat), so it's got SPF protection and insect repellent somehow built in, as well as a brim wide enough to protect my whole face & neck. I felt so lucky when I found it on clearance, in grey, and in a shape I liked! Wearing it cheers me up too. Oh and I put on my super comfy navy flats: I wear these or the brown version (bought last month!) for all of my hot weather serious walking, even if I wear other shoes to run errands/be out and about. They are magic.

There you have it. This might be so simple as to constitute boring, I'm not sure. I just know that after I got dressed, I felt less grumpy, and I've continued to enjoy how this outfit feels, which is a nice countermeasure to my sore throat.

Comments, suggestions, and critiques always welcome! I'm very sorry about the focus in the detail shots: I must've switched my camera setting without realising it. I didn't see the problem until I'd imported the photos to my computer, and I just don't feel like re-taking them. Maybe if you squint they won't look so blurry. Thistle, my dog, is clearly continuing her new hobby of photo bombing. I'm off to curl up on the couch with a hot drink, good book, and my puppy! Even more powerful mood enhancers than silk/cotton voile...just.
