WIW - Pattern mixing + scarf question?????

Today's outfit I tried some pattern mixing.

Skirt / Top / Scarf / Belt / Ring all LOFT
shoes - had for probably 6 years from WM

Does this outfit work?
My scarf question........ Ok so here in Houston it's going to be 92 today. Is it too hot to even be wearing a scarf as an accessory or is it ok to wear?? I love the pop of color a scarf can add to an outfit, but don't want to look silly wearing it.

I really like it. Your scarf seems to have some purple/dusty rose in it so it pulls in the skirt and the top really well. The real shame is that you look so good and the scarf will be off the minute you walk out the door due to the heat !!!

The pattern mix works for me, you look great in purples. If you are in a/c settings I think the scarf is fine, also you are showing legs and arms exposed so not all is covered up. If you find the scarf is too warm and bulky, twist it tightly and then wrap it around more like a necklace than a loose scarf.

LIsa, that is so coincidental, I was getting back on to recommend the necklace look too !

You can tie three separate knots, spaced apart, on the scarf ( to make them look like beads ) and then tie it around your neck.

I love the outfit but personally couldn't wear the scarf with those temperatures that way.
I would probably go for a simple white tank and wear that scarf as a messy scarf as in here:

People in VERY hot countries where silk and cotton scarves daily. And I do too - very loosely draped and with the right scarf. It's 100% appropriate.

ok, thanks so much everyone. I've readjusted the scarf to fit the "messy" look.
I was hoping it would be viewed as more of a necklace. I'll also try later today tieing it into a bead necklace look.

I'm very new to wearing scarves so I'm still learning. Last fall I purchased my first scarf. How did I go sooo long without them...lol

and I am in the ac all day (my office even gets a tad chilly sometimes)

I think the outfit looks fabulous!!! And while I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate the scarf outside, I too work in an office that is cold during the summer and would totally wear in the office.

I like the pattern AND color mixing here To me it's not the scarf that's too warm looking but the way it's tied. I'm glad you loosened it up; I was going to suggest tying in a very loose muffler style, a loose messy look, or knotted the way Lisa described.

This outfit is so cute on you! I love how you mixed the prints from the t-shirt and the scarf, yet everything is tied by colors. The proportion are perfect for you. Very cool and dynamic. The scarf may become handy in A/C buildings.

I think it works too. The patterns are so different in scale and print that they mix together rather than competing.

Hey Teri, your scarf, skirt & top combination is just good. Well it's hot outside, but you can have a scarf to protect yourself with the sunlight. It works with your dress very well. And if you are in the office or home in the A/C then it definitely works good for all.

I think it looks great!! I LOVE the scarf look on other people (especially Kendi...that girl can rock some scarfs huh??) but for some reason when I put one on (I only own 2!) I feel weird and I don't think they look right. Do you think it's just something I need to do and get used to? I have actually never left the house in one.
