WIW: Mostly Ink, and a K/R Fly London Boots

After I bought my blue sweater, I wanted to give this a try, but I was waiting to pull out the linen moto and to replace my boots. I've been uncomfortable with my Doc Martens Clemency for longer walks and I ordered these boots as a possible replacement. Excuse the still-wet hair and the messy collar, as I was rushing to get ready so DH could snap a picture.

The boots are very comfy. I'm concerned that they may be too wide at the shaft since I have narrow calves. I have thick socks on and a light underlayer. Do you think the gap is too big? These also seem like they would be more mid-calf vs. ankle boots and I'm debating if that matters to me.

Any thoughts on the outfit and the boots would be appreciated.

Great outfit! The mix of pattern and texture is spot on and I love your tomboy style.

About the boots: I have such skinny ankles that if I worried about this problem too much I would never wear boots at all. If you like them and they're comfortable, you probably only need to worry if you're thinking of wearing them with a skirt. You can always fill the gap with scrunched up socks.

That said, it does look as though the ankle strap isn't sitting quite right. That's got nothing to do with slender legs and everything to do with the boots. Could be a deal breaker.

Totally agree with approprio. You look fab in the blues and layers of texture. I love the boots. I don't mind the small gap. As approprio mentions the strap, I wonder if it's tightened all the way? I'd keep if comfy.

Textures are great. And approprio said it beautifully. Love the tomboy look. Don't have any expertise on boots like those beauties. Well done.

Yep, the ankle strap is bugging me. I talked to DH last night about it. I might be able to get another hole/grommet added to tighten the strap (it is at the tightest setting), but IDK if I want to go through the effort. Hmm.

Tania, it's worth considering that small ankles/calves will continually cause similar fit issues. If you love the boots otherwise it might be worth taking them to a cobbler to get an extra grommet put it (I can't imagine it would cost too much). Also since these are taller in the shaft you want to make sure that you've got enough room for your stride, so depending on the leather you might actually need that extra room. And lastly, since this is a casual style of boot you've got a little more leeway in that department; they don't have to be the sleekest of sleek fits, but of course you want to be happy with it.

Thanks, Aida. We looked at the strap and I think we can take it in a bit. My husband has put grommets on leather before, and we just need to buy the supplies.

I'll play around with them at home for a couple of days and see how the taller shaft works for me.
