WIW Last Week (despite temperature)

This is a very recent thing for me. I've been taking small steps away from wearing t-shirts constantly and am a bit shaky on the direction I'm heading in. Plus, heading out of my comfort zone (read: t-shirts) is a little unnerving. That being said, I'm insanely curious to know what you guys think. And yes, this was during some 90-100 degree temperature.

Since most of my clothes come from Maurice's these days, I'll just mention what didn't come from there.

#1 (Wednesday) Hat and leather cuff from Earthbound Trading Co.

#2 (Thursday) The metal cuff is an old one from Cato. I actually wore this to a friend's wedding- which was super casual. Five minute ceremony, six people minus the pastor, and the bride was wearing jeans and flip flops. All of us were in jeans.

#3 (Friday) Skinny jeans and black shirt from Rue 21, boots from Journeys.

Hello, don't go insane from curiousity!

I think you are taking some great steps to bring your outfits up a notch from simple tshirts. I like the stripes in #1, I love the vest layering and the cuff in #2, and the peep of red print under that cute black shirt in #3 is absolutely great! It looks like you are working on adding some accessories, layers and a variety of materials and patterns to pep up the look, right? Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your responses, everyone! To be honest, I don't know where all the t-shirts came from, as I never use to wear them so much when I was younger. Of course, back then I dressed like a rainbow threw up on me. I'm actually trying to recapture that a bit; even though it gave everyone fits, it was the most fun I ever had with clothes. Though I'm going for a far more subdued effect.

I'm really trying not to over accessorize as I did that a lot in the past. Adding the patterns and layers are a bit newer. #3 was the worst outfit to wear, as older ladies seemed to enjoy giving me disapproving looks.

As to the jeans in this weather, I see shorter jeans and pants as just a way to get sunburned as opposed to keeping cool. I could be getting that from my dad. He hates wearing shorter pants, too. And the layering is a bit worse in the heat, but I feel more uncomfortable if I don't cover myself. Which is probably how the t-shirts wander out of my closet.

I like #1 and #2.

I wear jeans all the time. And t-shirts. Like you, my style challenge since I joined here has been to go beyond that. I still haven't discarded my beloved tees. I have, instead, learned how to make them a supporting player as they should be (a base layer), rather than the center of my outfit.
