WIW: Kind of equestrian? - YouLookFab Forum

Today is all about keeping warm – it is currently -34C with a windchill warning…yuck!

I’m wearing my new Club Monaco jacket (purchased before Christmas but was at tailor’s) which I’m in love with. I found this baby at my favourite consignment shop for $25. I’ve never purchased Club Monaco before but I’m now completely smitten with the brand based on this jacket – it is so well made from the double stitching, to the way the buttons are attached. I had to take it to my tailor to shorten the sleeves but no other alterations were needed. It’s a cropped rather boxy style so may not be the most figure flattering but I must be honest and say I really don’t care! I love the oversized collar, the heavy green tweed fabric and the warmth of it. I’ve paired it with my ponte knit sheath dress, black tights, a thrifted men’s leather belt and my Hush Puppies cognac boots.

I’m also showing off my newly acquired Mondani New York camel leather handbag – also from my consignment store. I love the size and colour of this bag and can see it working with just about everything.

Does this look work? How are the proportions and colour mix? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome. Thanks for looking!

Thanks ladies - I would love to hear some suggestions on how else you would style this jacket. Because of the cropped length I'm a wee bit confused on what else it will look good with. Would it look ok with jeans with a longer tee sticking out underneath?

Gorgeous jacket, and gorgeous outfit! I also adore those boots and how you've tied the belt. I think this would be cute casually with skinny jeans, flat or those same boots, and then a longer tee with the jacket over as you suggest.

That was so stylish! Yes, that jacket would look great with jeans, both blue and black...and a T would bring them together nicely. I might try it with an Aline skirt also.

This is awesome, Shannon! The jacket and whole vibe is so fresh and hip! Giddyyup! I think it would look great with skinnies/boots with a longer top peeking out. I think the A-line jacket needs a slimmer bottom : ) Pencil skirt would probably work well too. What a fun color too, oh my!

Wow - very impressed that you are wearing a dress with temps that cold! I really like the jacket and love the way you're wearing it here. I think it would look terrific with jeans - I'd try a couple of different tops under it, but I can picture it with a white button down tucked in with a fun belt or a longer tee left untucked. I can also see it with dress pants for work - I'd wear it with pants that are a bit slimmer through the thigh and then wider at the ankle to help balance out the boxier cut. Great find!

I think in the short time I've been here, I've seen you really come into your own with trying and succeeding at sophisticated, interesting looks. I love the jacket and agree that it would look great too paired with some nice jeans, a t-shirt and a pretty necklace.

Y'know? I don't think the jacket is that short on you - especially since this looks so great with the belt moving your waistline up higher than the jacket. You might give it a try with jeans and a hip-length top. Or maybe keep the same monochrome effect with a slim pant/skirt and a blouse belted over the top.

So fab! Yes, try that amazing jacket with jeans, too! It's too cute to only wear to work occasionally! Brrrrrr. I can't believe you're not layering also a turtleneck, a scarf, a fur vest, fur leg warmers, fingerless gloves...you get the picture.

The collar frames your face very well. How about turning the collar up, layered over a turtle neck or a big, frothing scarf? I really like the olive green lift the jacket gives to the black of the dress. Nice touch on the belt too.

Oh, and your temp is the mirror image of mine today.

Cool outfit! Love the way you tied the belt, and love the purse and boots too! That green tweed jacket is to die for! I would love to see it over an orange shirt and white jeans for a casual look too!
