Hi Ladies!!!

I’ve totally been MIA the past few months

Life Happens, and I found myself in great difficulty trying to manage everything on my plate efficiently.
Nonetheless, “Style” must go on, right?!!

Here are a few of my favorite looks worn this
summer. I'm in Los Angeles, and temperatures have been all over the map, but mostly HOT! I take advantage of any cooler temps to pull out the few pieces that I have from the Midwest that I can still get away with.

-->Warning: This post is quite Photo Heavy! I tried to narrow it down to 5, I really did!

1 Vintage dress & Ralph Lauren fedora

2 Eliza J dress, this shade of blue is my favorite!

3 This look was Mad Men inspired, a Suzi Chin dress topped with a vintage cap

4 Vintage hat, dress, and clutch with modern spice via gladiator sandals

5 My first custom made ankara skirt!

6 A look styled entirely around the bangles I have on, scored at H&M

7 Vintage frock and trying my hand at socks with Mary Jane's

8 Denim on denim

9 Vintage dress with Via Spiga and Kate Spade accents

10 I rarely wear shorts, but in this look I was featured on Ebony.com - The feature was one of the highlights of my Summer!

11 A casual stroll in a floral crop top and NYDJ skinnies

Joi, your style does indeed have a ladylike feel to it. BUT you do it with such modern freshness, I just can't help but suck in every photo with deep joy and satisfaction — you're like an italian cream soda!

Though I’m not sporting it right now, there have been times I really loved and wanted to sport some ladylike looks. I just feel too “vintage” or “pin-up” in them half the time. After seeing you, I think it’s partly because I didn’t put modern edge and personal touches into it.

I honestly struggle when people ask me to describe my style, I mean I like vintage items, but also classic, and trendy pieces as well. I LOVE your analogy of a Italian Creme Soda! Perhaps I should use that to describe my style?! LOL!
I want to see your ladylike looks revamped!!!

I am wordless over how fab #6 is! I also love #2. Both of these reflect my love of modern. But I also love a vintage look. #3,4 and 7 are hitting just the right note with me. #3 and 4 look like you stepped out of one of those beautiful Hollywood productions from the 40s and 50s.

Your ladylike vintage looks are so amazing! I especially like the perfectly retro feel of #4 and the fun patterned skirts in #5 and #7. I also love how your backdrops are so varied and really add to the pictures.

Number 6 was definitely a favorite, and so unexpected as it was totally based off my desire to wear a handful or colorful bangles! Ah, Old Hollywood exudes class and style; I watch a lot of old films and I find myself inspired each and every single time!

I need all the help I can get The biggest room in the house is the one for improvement The all denim look was tricky for me, because I knew I didn't want it to look the same as everyone else's. When I paired this combo (2 different brands, but both at Nordstrom's) tye-dye/acid wash - I was sold! I had that "this is it" feeling! I can't wait to see how you style it!

Fantastic outfits (and fun photography - love all of the backdrops!). My favs are #2 with the blue/teal combination, and #6 with the striped skirt and amazing bangles, but all outfits are great. I like the analogy of an Italian Cream Soda - how fitting :). Thanks for sharing.

Thank you April!!! I'm going to be more regular for the Fall
We moved into a loft, and my closet space was greatly reduced from the spare bedroom that I used as a dressing room previously! I'll tidy up my closet nook and post pictures one day
