Brrrrr....I am not sure how long I will manage in this. Obviously, a puffer goes on top. At -30, you don't mess around. But I was getting so tired of the ubiquitous skinnies tucked into boots, and today for a wonder it is not actively snowing. This would probably look better without the sweater, but I am sorry. I need the colour and I need the warmth.

Off for a much needed hair cut.

In a perfect world, yes, no sweater, only because the color breaks the line, but you look adorable overall, and pretty radiant for someone stuck in extreme cold.

I really like it with the sweater, Suz. That gorgeous orchid colour ties in really well with the colour of that (also fab) skirt.

I hear you on color! Very cool with the print in the skirt.
Lusting after the sweater color--it's my lilac cashmere that seems to have got nibbled by something and may not be repairable. Would you share sizing in the JC sweater? I am always flummoxed by their sizes. I am currently in a size M in their Tippi and Tilly, to get fluidity.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I don't think the jacket takes away from the outfit at all, but I understand you are FED UP with the cold (I would be, too!) so maybe it's influencing your take on the outfit. I just wrote on Sveta's thread that I am in awe of you ladies looking fashionable in your climate. Honestly I would be hard pressed to get out of sweatpants/yoga pants if I lived where you do. So you get total respect from me on this outfit. I personally love a bright pop of color and that sweater looks gorgeous on you. Enjoy the pampering of the haircut.

I also really like the sweater with that skirt and jacket - and wonder too how in the world you can stand the cold. We had a tiny bit of frozen precip yesterday morning and it's like the world stopped for a day. Unbelievable. You look fantastic and brave.

Love the burgundy tights with the band of color the orchid-y sweater provides. The "broken" lines make this look, IMO. (Dare I mention the K. name and the FG type?)

Ah, thank you, ladies! Balm to the frozen soul. Actually, it's not that bad right now...the sun is shining, and even though the wind is biting cold, it still feels bear-able. Once the sun goes down it will be another story.

Confession: Inside, I pretty much have reverted to LONG UNDERWEAR with oversized cashmere sweaters over top. Mr. Suz is philosophical. According to him, it looks just like leggings, so why not? There you go. He is my hero.

Angie, on my jacket is a little pin advertising our local independent book store. I will snap a picture later. I'm going to a meeting of my volunteer board for the WritersFest after my hair appointment.

Unfrumped, this is a size small cashmere tee. I sometimes question J. Crew sizing, too. Most of the time I'm a clear XS, but in the Tippi I found the XS not fluid enough. I decided to size up with this sweater and a few others -- for extra fluidity. I am glad I did because it layers better this way.

Alasse, thank you. It may be that Kibbe FG coming out. Or maybe it is just a welcome change from dark everything.

No, I'm sorry. That can't possibly be what you're wearing for -30. Minus 30, I'm sure you should be wearing like some kind of space suit, complete with bubble helmet.

Just wanted to say good for you for dressing in these temperatures. -30 wind chill for us this morning. Whee!

Honestly, I'm not sure about that band of colour. It's all I see, not the rest of your outfit, or you. I think something less bright might be better. Although, on it's own, or with the jacket open, creating a column, I'd love it - it's a gorgeous colour.

(ducking and running to the hills... but I know you'd be honest with me!)

The need for color makes so much sense. I can't imagine those temps as our recent record low was 10F and I hibernated... Great job keeping your spirits up and looking sharp. The rut of skinny pants tucked in does get old doesn't it?

See, this is why I love skirts in the winter. Layer them over woolly tights or leggings and you're warm as toast. And the band of colour in the mid section is just enough to keep your spirits up and your butt warm.

So sorry you're dealing with the big freeze. Keep smiling. You look terrific.

Ah, thanks, all. And Elizabeth, I totally get what you are saying. I just had to, you know? Later on I did wear the jacket open. Actually, IRL you could see the sweater peeking out at the collar, too, which was another pop of pink.

Mainly, I just wanted to do two things:

Layer like crazy.
Try Angie's Burberry buttoned up denim look.

Welcome to the Team Skirt in a Deep Freeze. The winter just cannot get us down, right?
We have positively balmy weather of -10C this evening - a positive relief after -34C windchill yesterday morning. I wonder if it is time to get the sandals out now?
You really rock the pencil skirt with flat boots (they are flat, right?) This is something I cannot get right at all - I don't like the look of my flat black boots with any tipe of skirt - or with culottes for that matter.
