Tucking tops into jeans and pants is so waaayyyy out of my comfort zone, Angie may have a heart attack.
Two versions:
1) Pics 1,2, 3 -- BR Denim top tucked into AG Farrah skinnies, with wide snakeskin belt, and 3 inch Me-Too suede wedge booties. With and without white AT pleather jacket.
These skinnies have my ideal rise: 9.5 inches! Yep. Rests on my high hip bone, and just below (not above!) my belly button. So they don't feel like they are falling off. But does that high rise look goofy, with top tucked?
I had not yet washed the skinnies, and I feared I was going to get blue ink all over my shirt and white jacket, so I did a last minute swap out...
2) Pics 4, 5, 6 -- For AT ponte knit trouser pants, which have a lower rise, side pockets and zippers on the thighs. These pants, which are a year or so old, are on probation: I am debating about keeping them or donating. Every time I wear them, they wind up sagging horribly by day's end, slipping too low and threatening to fall right off. I was thinking it was lack of belting, and it turns out I was right, so they are not getting tossed just yet.
Seeing these photos I realized I had hiked the pants up a smidge too high, so I belted them looser, stuck my hands in my pockets, and let the rise ride lower. It was okay. I usually feel very odd in low rises. I feel like they are going to fall right off. But they did not fall off.
I also swapped belts: only because the wider belt, which is new, was too big. I need to have a cobbler add another hole before I can wear it.
Looking at these photos, I'm not sure tucking is working for me. Maybe it's all in my head, but it looked better in my mirror. In the photos, I feel like I am all top with no hips and scrawny spindly legs? Which made me realize I embrace the untuck not only because I want to hide my mid section; I untuck because I like the horizontal line at the hip, as I think it adds weight there, balancing out my body proportions?
Outfit inspired by... sorry, forget who; someone posted a pinterest inspiration with light denim top and dark denim jeans, plus scarf. That was what I was going for, except tucked in, and with skinnies instead of flares.
Worn to: errands, dinner, movies, people-watching.
