WIW: Hello '70s

I'm having one of those days... woke up and my face was puffy (thanks PMS), and really everything felt puffy. Even the scale said I was puffy.

So, it was a dress day.

Been dying to wear this dress more. It's polyester satin. $20, H&M clearance rack!

I love it, especially for the tiny buttons up the back, and the very feminine, flowy, casual glamour of it. It feels very 1970s.

Not sure about the scarf or the chambray shirt, or even the shoes. It all felt 70s to me. And it's only 50 degrees outside, so I can't exactly go without a blouse over it.

No makeup -- didn't happen this morning.

It's in the 50's here too and I would freeze in those sandals, but they add a bit of tough to the feminine outfit. I'm puffy from pollen today, hoping for a good rain to wash it all away.

That's a great little dress. I think it works well with the knotted shirt and I think the long scarf in #1 amps up the 70's feel. in fact the two versions I prefer are #1 and #3. Very glam. BTW no hint of puffy from what I can see

I think you look smokin' in each one..The dress with the shirt is just perfect and add the scarf and you are so ready to go..I love the sandals..I have a similar pair in cognac..pink toes are adorable...With our current cold windy weather, it may be July before my toes get to see the outside of socks..

Nice! Love the midi length of the dress. Colours and silhouette are beautiful on you. The shirt and the scarf both work, either together or on their own, and give you layering options. How does the dress look with just the scarf?

Great dress and the color is wonderful on you. And I also want to see the dress with just the scarf. Chop, chop. Go take another pic. And maybe put on some plum lipstick...hmm. Might we have a nice plum lip with a plum dress. Fun stuff despite any puffy (which is completely undetectable).

I like the scarf with it a lot; the color and pattern add richness.
I get the dress alone look, as it's quite pretty that way, but i figure you were trying to make it more transeasonal, sort of treating it like a midi skirt.
Would it work with a buttoned up Jean jacket or a boxy sweater top ?

Joy, I so love the 40s and 50s I didn't think about the shoes adding some tough, but they do add a nice edge. sorry about the pollen! I have been fighting it here too

Crutches, Im so glad I'm making you proud <3 i am proud, I'm starting to really love it, and think it's very 1970s Rita Oh I hope your toes see the sunshine before July! It's been raining here, so no peep toes today. What do you think of the grey peep heels?? I saw those this morning and was like... Rita! Approprio, I'm surprised at how much I love this dress. I was scared of midi lengths for sure. They can be a bit "church lady" and it bothered me. But glad it's okay on me.

AM, BAHAHA!! Okay I wore it with plum
Lipstick just for us, the plum girls I have to admit, I bought this dress and my dear said, uh you teally love this color. I then realized I had bought tights in the same color, had just knit a sweater in it, and had about 2 other things in this plum/burgandy shade. Oh my. for the record...still think plum is too dark on me. But I wore it upon your request

Angie, I think the dress is best solo. It has a lot of details like pintucks That are best in their own. But I do love it with just the scarf too.

Unfrumped, yes, I was trying to take the chill off. What a great idea! I pulled out my body giant angora sweater and popped it on a few ways. Whatcha think?

What a pretty, versatile dress! I like versions 1 and 3 best. You're brave to bare your toes - I can't stand to do that until it reaches at least 70.

I think the first pictures are a very sexy relaxed 70's look - not overtly sexy. You look like you are not trying too hard. A really great look! I like it with both the scarf & the shirt. It looks ok without the scarf, but great once the scarf is part of the look. I guess that's proof that one piece can really make an outfit.

The third outfit with the fuzzy black sweater looks great as well. I love the contrast between the soft fuzziness and the silky dress. Great combination!

It looks like you'll have a lot of fun playing with this dress. It seems to be quite versatile.

Shevia, thank you! I like your perspective on minimal/maximal looks on me. I actually seem to have the hardest time doing looks that are "middle of the road". It seems to be all or nothing!

Karie, I used to run barefoot as a child and even still do. My toes do get cold but I love bare feet and bare legs. Ended up at a dermatologist a few years ago during winte because my toes were purple she said I had poor circulation in my feet and basically had chilblains. The solution? Wear thicker socks, you idiot girl! It's winter! (She didn't say that but her face did ha!)

Kirstjen, thank you!! I love each of the pieces separately. I think that chambray shirt is 3-4 years old! I like 1 and 3 best too, and the sweater. Too plain with just the shirt alone. I love that sweater!! I do wish it was a bit smaller. But I Handknit it a few years ago. Mohair is horrific to
Rip out. So it is what it is: huge. Haha! I played dress up as a little girl and love theater. So I guess clothes are my way of doing that now as an adult

jackiec, thank you! What's weird is that I adore this dress. Jt I was so afraid to wear it. It was only $20 but I was afraid of ruining it or wearing it to tatters. Now I'm realizing that's dumb. Isn't that why we wear what we love?? I think I must buy those sandals approprio posted....

Vildy, you are so kind!!! I love the cosmo, the glamorous. But there are styles I can't wear, at least IMO. Shapeless doesn't suit me. Last summer I wore sloppy Jean shorts and an even more sloppy shapeless A-line tank top for a day trip. I felt so unconfident all day long--like a sad poor college student. My biggest challenge is casual clothes. I feel very underdressed in them if they don't have some glamorous touch-- silk, fringe, draping, sequins,or trendy something. It's my hardest style challenge to dress casual and still feel me.
