I’ve always admired how well Goldenpig (Natalie) can wear an A-line skirt and we’ve discussed whether or not this is a silhouette/shape I could wear being that I’m definitely more “apple-y” than Natalie. I also love lyn and her “twirly” skirts and think how fun it must be to wear something you want to twirl in. So when I saw this beautiful skirt in one of my thrift stores for $3.99, I decided to give it a try. This is a gorgeous skirt up close – a silk/linen/polyester blend with a fabulous weight to it, fully lined and white/taupe/black/midnight blue/citron for colours. I think this particular shaped A-line can work for me because it’s fairly high waisted and the top of the skirt lays completely flat until mid-thigh where it opens up to create the fullness and “twirly” effect. I’ve paired the skirt with just a simple black cardigan with elbow length sleeves (worn as a top), added a black skinny belt for further waist definition, nude micro fishnets (still too cool for bare legs) and my fishbow pumps which are taupe and black, further pulling those colours from the skirt.

I’ve also included a pic with my thrifted trench from last year and green handbag (for pop of colour). Although the photo may not show it, the trench is not soul sucking beige but rather a gold tone with shimmery gold threads running throughout it. It has a crinkle textured fabric, is double breasted and has very wide lapels. Again, I think it has a bit of a retro vibe. Ok to keep? I do have my green Joe Fresh trench as well but it’s too casual to wear with skirts/dresses.

I would love to hear if you think this shape of skirt works for me? How are the proportions? I have lots of ideas of what to pair this skirt with but would love to hear yours. The skirt did look good with the taupe Boutique 9 peep toe laceless oxfords as well, creating a longer leg line – another shoe option.
