WIW: Denim & Lace for a Snowy Day

My goodness - I am SICK TO DEATH of winter and snow! It's a miserable day here and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to figure out what to wear. I need to be warm and covered, but I want to start to introduce spring items.

Today I decided to pair my dark brown lace midi skirt with a brown v-neck tank with brown tights and brown booties - this gives me my column of colour. But as a nod to spring, I've topped this ensemble with a cropped denim jacket. I've added my red/leopard clutch for some colour and my gold watch and a vintage brooch for jewelry.

It's not a spectacular outfit but I think it works - what do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Can anyone please send Spring my way???

I hear you! -20C this morning and we have 15cm of snow on the way this afternoon! Blech.

I like how the denim hints at spring!

The outfit definitely works! I think the bare lower arms gives a "nod to spring", but you look still appropriate for the ugly weather out there.

And I so hear you... today it was -20 with the wind chill. I did pull out a pair of new booties, as there is no snow, but really should be wearing winter boots. Snow on Wednesday. Ugh.

As for the weather, I am afraid I am useless in that department. It's bitter here, too, and snow on the way.

You look terrific, and I see the nod to spring. I feel the same way about winter! It is running 15 F here below average for this time of year. And more snow is on the way!

I wish I could send some Spring Shannon, but although it is probably warmer here than where you are, our forecast is for snow showers later this week. I'm feeling bleh in my clothes so haven't even bothered with a WIW today, whereas you look great! I like the denim topper, it definitely springify's (new word?) things and of course it wouldn't be the same without a bit of red! The clutch is lovely. YLF.

Shannon, what a beautiful outfit. I have a soft spot for denim jacket over LBD-like outfits (dress, two-piece, but generally column of color), it's so fun and fresh to my eye. Lady in denim, perfect.

I so love the idea of the brooch on the collar and I will steal it when I put denim jacket in rotation... soon... (warning: rant ahead)... when the spring comes to my neck of the woods. It's raining and snowing at the same time as I type, what is wrong with this weather?? I would not have been so annoyed had we not experienced the most glorious weather 10 days ago, you could smell the spring in the air, I felt so invigorated and then the monstrous snowfall followed by the lowest nighttime temperatures had hit us and now I'm half sick because I have no idea how to dress and I'm either too hot or too cold. I want spring, pronto.

Our weatherman is blaming all this ridiculous winter on Greenland. Yep. He calls it the "Greenland Block." Let's start a petition and send it to the UN --- filing a grievance against Greenland.

Seriously, I know what you mean about needing a does of spring. I think the denim does nicely for now, and I love the chocolate lace. I also love brown and red, and brown and pink, while we're at it!

Lace and denim is one of my all time favourite combos, may sport it later in the week. The jean jacket is just adorable paired with the sweater and skirt. Love this on you. And I hear you about the winter! Dreadful here today, though at least the sun is shining.

Man, your weather sounds terrible. It is also below freezing today and I think there is snow forecast for tonight/tomorrow, but not nearly as much as you are getting. (J. says that I jinxed the weather by taking my 2 heavy winter coats to the cleaners for their spring cleaning last weekend. I'm beginning to think he was right...)

Diana - I'm laughing at you "jinxing' the weather by putting away heavy coats. I don't even THINK about putting away anything winter related until at least mid April. It's just sad.

I just posted on Ceit's thread about this. I'm sick of winter too - we spent the weekend skiing and what a relief to wear gear and not have to get DRESSED! You look fantastic, though. I am right with you - winter be gone! Won't happen for another month or two here, sadly.
