WIW: contrasting tank under sweater

I wore this a week or two ago, and have been waiting to have time to post it.

This sweater has been on the possible chopping block for a while, but when Angie posted her ensemble of a see through sweater with a contrasting tank,

I knew I wanted to give it another try. It was too hot at that point to contemplate sleeves, so I had to wait until now.

So this is what I came up with. I did NOT feel fab. Is it the lines on the sweater, adding too much movement to the "holes"? Too much white? Do I try again with different jeans? Maybe the sweater just has to go?

Would love any insight you might have. Please!

Oh, and it was also the debut of my new metallic oxfords. LOVE! Full day, no socks, right out of the box. What's not to love?

It might be too much white at that. I do like the tank under the sweater a lot, but not combined with the white pants. I dunno, maybe I have just moved on from white bottoms. It's getting chillier here and I really don't wear them after summer has passed.

Funny Aquamarine, for me, Sept is the BEST month for white jeans. The true summer is to hot for them, and in Sept the sun is still pretty bright and nice. Funny how differently our seasons effect how we dress!

But with white on top... yeah, maybe save that for spring.

It might be the white jeans, but I find the lines on the sweater are also throwing me off - the V below the neckline and the angles at the hip. Maybe it's just not meant to be one worn with a contrast. I bet it's fine with a white tank. ??

Elizabeth, I the idea of the outfit, but for me it's actually the blue top under the white open weave that is not working. I do prefer a more streamlined look so a white tank underneath would be better IMHO. The shoes are so fab.

Lisa and Deb, you're prob right. The lines, holes and contrast are maybe a bit ALGO for me. I do usually wear this with a white tank, will go back to that, or pass it on. The lines on it have always been a bit hard to work with, esp in terms of necklines.

First of all, great shoes!!

Secondly, I'm with Debs on this. I think in this case a white tank would have been the way to go. It would give a simpler appearance and more streamlined. I think Angie's formula works best with a sweater that has no additional detailing besides the open weave. At least for my personal taste.

I don't wear my white jeans much in summer, either. I wear them most between late April and late June, and then again throughout September. I continue to wear them occasionally in winter, but typically like my cream jeans a bit better (now that I have a choice.) That's partly about the fabrication. The BR cream jeans feel soft like cotton flannel and that feels like a nice, wintery fabric to me. My white ones are quite heavy but feel more crisp.

And my white jean season is identical to yours. Surprise surprise. I hope to push it further this year though, maybe even until the snow flies. We shall see.

I think a soft grey tank would also look great. It's this particular blue and white that seems a little cruise ship to me (not that I don't love cruise ships!)...
