WiW: big shirt - YouLookFab Forum

I would say this big shirt is not conventionally flattering but I have fun wearing it anyway -- but paired with skinnies. I don't think I could wear it with volume on the bottom.

I bought this at LOFT awhile ago and posted a K/R when I was on the fence about buying it (it's not petite), but I haven't posted a WiW featuring it. I have worn it in NYC for work and to lots of art openings, including one last night. It always gets comments.

I usually pair it with different clutches and often with my leopard booties. It definitely needs a bit of heel to pull it off I think. And with a pendant necklace (which I vary). Shown here with a BR clutch (actually an iPad case) that I bought last year and then totally forgot I had... only recently discovered again since we moved...

I find the big shirt super comfy which is something to say since normally crisp white shirts and me don't mix well. I think because it's so big and billowy! What's more the collarless style isn't my normal thing, but I do like that I can button it all the way up for work, although that may not be the most flattering look since I have a short neck.

Only drawbacks: it has (excessively) dolman sleeves so I can't layer anything over it. I've tried! So it tends to work best in Spring or Fall, when I can pop a 3/4 length coat over it.

Any other suggestions for how to accessorize? I tried it with pearls last night but that looked like overkill to my eye. Looking for ideas...

P.s. the overhead lighting in our living room is also not flattering... mental note: take WiW pictures in the bedroom instead!

Hi shirt twin! You look great. I have the same one and, like you, prefer it worn over a more fitted bottom (pencil/tube skirt, skinny jeans). But I have occasionally paired it (happily) with flair jeans -- guess it works because the hip, thigh and knee areas are still quite fitted. As far as accessorizing, I like wearing it with an open neckline (open top 3 or 4 buttons) and fill in the space with a statement choker or bib necklace, a cluster of pearls or layered shorter necklaces. The necklaces sort of peek through. I have also worn it with statement earrings and nothing around the neck. I haven't tried the shirt fully buttoned up as I have a shorter neck and that is not the best look for me. As far as other accessories, I often wear it with funky footwear (animal print or floral) and carry a fun bag.

The mandarin collar lies so nicely on you....it draws attention to your nice square shoulders. I think it looks fabulous on you and leaving it open a little lengthens the neck enough, IMO.

I love it! I have a similar one. I wear mine with a shorter jacket over it and usually over skinnies or rolled up straight leg trousers.

This looks perfectly proportional. As far as styling, do you have other skinnies that you could wear with the big shirt? Blue denim or maybe a pattern..
Thinking of arty, I like Angie's and El Cee's suggestion of short necklaces under it that peek out. Also, indoor scarves...maybe a silk an interesting black and cream geometric or architectual pattern.
ETA: how about a hat, maybe a crochet beanie?

Looks great! I have a similar shirt which I usually wear semi tucked with jeans and a long pendant necklace. But like the idea of trying a necklace inside the collar.

Love this! You manage the volume beautifully, and the sleek, but walkable heels and stretchy pants mean you're still able to be comfortable, while you look "arty chic."

I love how the back of the shirt falls away from the body. I have s similar shirt which I tuck the front into most trousers and allow the back to flow free.

So Audrey Hepburn (which is a high form of flattery). I vote pears inside like Angie or do you have any statement necklaces - you might need to try a few and see. I can imagine the swoosh when you move and I love that.
