WIW: Attempting to change it up

Here are two attempts to change up from my beloved FFBO! Not feeling fantastic so this was even more effort than I expected.

1. BR Sloans, Caslon layered sweater, Topshop booties. Somehow all of the women on my hall wore black and white yesterday - we declared it a new ritual! I felt good in this outfit.

2. Kut plaid skinnies, boring black tee, knit cutaway blazer, burgundy Docs. I got this blazer at one of those cheapo places at the mall, but I rather like the cut. I felt like this emphasized my IT shape, but it was okay for a different look.

Both look really great on you! Proportions, color and pattern mix, it all looks well balanced and interesting/creative. The blazer is flattering and I don't see any IT issues.

Those are both great looks. I don't see accentuated IT in 2, just a fab outfit. In fact, I think the blazer cut creates waist definition. The color is gorgeous on you, great with the boots, and I love the plaid trousers.
The first outfit is fun and modern, with the layered detail at the hem, the patterned pants, and shiny pointy-toed booties.
Great job at shaking things up! I'm inspired to try to break out of my fall-back zone--maybe by trying a tunic and leggings (which I actually haven't been wearing lately).

I actually really like the blazer, both the piece itself and how it looks on you. It defines your waist well, as Firecracker said above.
Two fab outfits, for sure. And great reminder to get out of my comfort zone to chase away boredom!

Una - first outfit is out of the park!! Casual elegance extraordinaire!! Love the pants with double layer shift - even accessories and booties perfect. Amazing!! Okay, really love the jacket in #2. It's almost a perfect duplicate of the Gibson Riding Jacket. That cutaway style is the most flattering cut ever. My Gibson is getting worn. It's fantastic cut but not so great fabric. I have been looking for an upgrade replacement but can't find anything worth for the life of me. I don't think this accentuates shoulders, I think it creates hourglass and super flattering proportions. Love how you've bookended with the booties. If you ever seem something similar (in black of course!!) in an upgraded fabric I hope you'll post it. It's the holy grail of jackets. I keep hoping Smythe might do a black swallowtail but I can't find anything yet. Oh well patience is not my virtue!!

I think the cutaway actually balances your shoulders quite well! And the fact that you're sporting pants that are bolder, and shoes that a tad bit edgier makes these looks "Una."

This silhouette is really flattering, and a great addition to your winter looks.

When you say you're not feeling "fantastic," does that mean you don't like the outfits, or that you'll literally not feeling well (in which case, get well soon!).

Two absolutely awesome looks! Fab monochrome look in #1, with interesting layers and pattern. I adore the colours in #2, your jacket looks great to me and I see no IT issues. I love how your boots echo the blazer colour and the plaid adds pattern interest.

These are both great, and brava for making an effort to mix up your look. Both outfits are fab, and I don't see IT emphasis in 2. But I especially love look 1. You look great in black & white. it seem such a fresh combo at this time of year, and I love the components you picked for this look. That Caslon sweater looks super on you.

I really like BOTH looks. The layered sweater outfit is amazing on you… so modern and chic. I love the print on the BR Sloans. The second outfit is also quite spectacular. The cutaway jacket is a great silhouette for you. The cut nicely balances your lovely strong shoulder line… so I do not see any over emphasis of IT shape. The color of the jacket is also very flattering. I covet your plaid pants!

I love that new blazer on you. Fun colour and the cutaway style does not emphasize IT to my eye. I find it flattering.

You wear print pants so well. The first outfit is also fun with the Sloans.

For not feeling well, and feeling bored with clothes right now, you really outdid yourself with both of these ! I am not a fan of printed pants at all, but even I can appreciate how terrific both of these outfits are. You've got everything down pat here: proportion, fit, accessories/footwear etc. Hope you have a better weekend

I love that raspberry colour.
It's interesting that you don't want to wear these all the time because you look so fab.
Is it possible that it's related to the fact that there is pattern on them? Or they are not 100% cozy outfits?

Great winter looks. I'm especially fond of the black and white one. The health issues aren't dulling your fashion sense one bit!

I think that not only a slight silhouette change makes a change, but using a few different colors actually makes things look more "different" but still you. You picked a great shade of raspberry that works with your other items.

Still, did you see some of the citron and teal combinations shown at BR this month?

Wow, I am so pleasantly surprised by the love for #2 (including a K from Angie!). My discomfort with these outfits is partly that the structured pants are putting pressure on my midsection, which I can't tolerate right now. It's so much easier to wear ponte pants and a long forgiving tunic.

Gryffin, this jacket is very much like the Gibson riding jacket, only without shoulder pads. I agree, I'm always on the hunt for the right cutaway/riding jacket. I think my shoulders would be a 10 in Smythe even though the rest of me is a 6! If ever I spy anything I will let you know!

I really like these ensembles a lot. You still look authentic to your style self, but there is so much added interest. I especially like the first of the two shots.
