Wiw and didn't

Outfit 1 was what I didn't wear. I was trying out a combination with my new (handed down) cropped top, but I decided the navy in the top and bottom clashed. Also DD11 really didn't like it.

So I went with outfit #2. Ho hum. Only took a photo because DD7 wanted to take one. My only consolation is that I felt a little like a straitlaced Bond heroine before she meets Bond!

I see that pic 1 was taken before my lippie was put on. I NEED lipstick!

I quite like the proportions in #1, they're fun. The photo doesn't show any clashing, although if I hadn't read your words I'd have guessed that they were two different colors. Perhaps they look different enough in real life too? If you like the silhouette, definitely give it a go with another pencil skirt if you've got one. I think you're onto something with that idea. The second outfit is classic and cute. Hah on the pre-Bond Bond girl ^^

That cropped top looks great with the pencil skirt -- I don't see clashing on my screen. Are you dressing for work? It's a great silhouette on you for a work outfit, trim and simple but polished, very Audrey. Yes, just think of yourself as Moneypenny in the 2nd outfit! And add pearls.

I like #1, but I do agree you need a bit of color on your lips. The top and bottom don't clash by any means, but perhaps in real life the textures just don't look good together? #2 is a classic look, but I don't think it's too prim and proper.

Thanks everyone. I realise that the colours are pretty hard to see on a monitor, and from an indoor photo, but the top is a cooler navy and the skirt a slightly warmer tone.
MsMaven, the textures are linen on top and I'm not sure what is on the bottom though it is smooth (something very high quality, as this skirt was handed down to me in the late 90's and is still in great condition!)

Gauche - yes this was for work. I didn't think of pearls - good idea!

I like both, too! Even if these two navys don't work together for you, you've found a silhouette that works on your frame and is really nice for work.

#1 - What a pity the mismatch of shades of navy is too great (though as you have said, the photo doesn't show a mismatch). The proportions and the fit are so flattering on you.

I don't know if you posses or like wearing belts. Just wondered if a belt (wide enough to be visible, not one of those skinny skinny ones) would have pulled the two pieces together - might even have looked like a dress.

#2 - That particular shade of pink of your cardi is lovely with your colouring. Lol on the Bond comment!

I don't see any problem with nr 1, actually I like it slightly bit better than nr 2 for a normal (not that dressy) workday.
ETA: You would certainly make for a smnashing Bond Girl, Anne, LOL:-))

As the others have said, I don't see the clashing in #1 and really like that silhouette on you. #2 is also fab, and the color of the cardi adds a nice punch of color to your outfit.
