AG I kinda assumed that all feedback was welcome was implicit since I've been little miss "SAY WHATEVER YOU WANT STOP CHEERLEADING" the past few months, but you're right, I should reiterate. Mostly I'm posting because I know some people like to see outfits even if the person isn't asking for help. But it's still nice to know people looked. I notice there's no counter on posts, so unless someone comments I have no way of knowing that I'm making any impression on the great faceless ocean of the internet.

As for being an IT, and getting more accurate photos, I only really have my iphone and the office bathroom mirror. Sorry. My husband does NOT share my enthusiasms, plus he's gone a lot. And my kid is a sweetheart but a terrible photographer. :/

The "stop cheerleading" thing just makes me smile, IK. Honestly, I do not get it. What are we to do if we sincerely like what you are wearing???? Just stay silent?

Accept it, woman. You've got style.

Viva, I'm happy to hear nice compliments, but I want people to know that they can also say they don't like it, or would do something differently.

I guess I am in a weird boat, since I am not particularly concerned that I don't have style and mostly just like to have conversations about clothing.

I just wanted to say I really appreciate all WIW posts, and look at almost all of them. I should comment more, but often I'm just really tired when online and burnt out from writing emails, and while I'm enjoying them or getting ideas as a browser, I sometimes don't comment unless something strikes me as unusual either for the forum or poster and I want to celebrate it (yay diversity) or unless a question is asked.

But if I really like something I try to say I really like it, even if I only have energy for a few words.

Can we see a straight on front photo sometime to settle the IT question (btw your arms and shoulders are enviable, very nice).

IK - I was just thinking how much I like your outfit when I got to your comments. First, I like this outfit a lot. The skirt is flattering and great midi length, super booties, and I really like the layering of the racer back longer darker gray tank with the translucent lighter gray cropped sweater. It's where EF meets Donna Karan meets Lululemon - which to me is an awesome intersect point. Relaxed, elegant, minimalist, interesting, edgy - I love it. My question is, do you love it? It get the feeling you are waiting for negative feedback, and I don't have any. It would not be too casual for work for me if I added a cropped tux blazer. So I was crushing on the outfit and thinking maybe I do need a tube skirt etc so I am perplexed. I would love to know if you are happy with it? What are your thoughts? It's no never mind if we think it's great and you don't!! Wardrobe core, let alone formcore never looked this good in my world!!

G, I was pretty happy with it except for two things:

1) It was unexpectedly FREEZING in the office yesterday. Usually the AC is moderate to normal but not this time, and I was so cold I had to go outside like a lizard to maintain body temperature.

2) Pulling the skirt back down in the bathroom was a serious exercise in underpants adjustment. I never have this problem with pants!

I really, really like this one! Makes me think that I need to consider dressing like this for myself. Many times when I'm out and about I think to myself, "gosh, I wish I would have brought my work-out clothes with me so I could just stop by the gym" - but its always too much of a hassle to run home and change and then go back out. Too many times I end up skipping my work-out because of that "excuse." This way I could go straight to the gym.
I love that sweater and (of course) your shoes! What clothing line, besides Lululemon would you recommend for clothing that serves a dual purpose? I haven't ever really looked for items like that!

Marley, like the wise man who runs my gym says, "Once you go Lulu, you never go back." I am seriously addicted at this stage, but I think you can do all sorts of tricks with non-Lulu. It's all about the sports bra, top/top, and leggings, with layers over. I have a number of simple tunics and long cardigans (James Perse, CP Shades, Madewell, Steven Alan, Inhabit, Rag and Bone, Enza Costa, American Vintage, Velvet, Eileen Fisher, etc etc) that layer easily so when I get to the gym, presto chango. Swap shoes, pull off the tunic and cardy, and go. If I don't mind swapping pants then I get even more options. This formula is also handy for dressing afterward, and makes less laundry.

I will go on record that all the moms who come to school dropoff in their skintight Lulus may look very fit, but cmon girlfriend, it's the easiest thing in the world to throw a tunic or cardy over AND JOIN THE WORLD. I only do it if I am coming immediately from training, and since I am sweaty and smelly, I like to think it's a different kind of inappropriate.

IK - I am poikilothermic too, hence the princess of blazer/toppers. A/C is problematic. Hum, the panty problem - had not thought about that. You reminded me the reason I did not buy a tube skirt is the feedback that they don't work with tights (key to stationary panties with skirts imho). Could you wear bike shorts under the skirt or is that way to much bulk? That would be the ultimate formcore - goodbye sweater and skirt hello sneakers ready to sweat. Not sure that's doable but don't have any other suggestions. Tough one. Looks great but that would annoy me for sure!!

Also I think I need to sort of call you out. You claim you want to talk about clothes, but you're even terser than me in some of your comments, which is impressive but doesn't create much discourse. I really don't see you leaving a lot of comments on other threads, but maybe I miss them. I realize it may be a time issue on your half. But just something to ponder.

AG, it's been made clear to me that many people do not welcome dissent or discussion, just reassurance, so I don't comment at length on most threads. I open my threads up for people who do like to do that.

I think it's a case of give and take, as Anna mentioned. I often post everyday yawn worthy stuff, and it might get 3 or 5 comments and that's that. And it's okay. I realize certain outfits bring more traffic, maybe ones following an ensemble from the blog or a new trend. May I be devils' advocate and say it's kind of passive aggressive to ask why no one is commenting. I also truly think you are very comfortable in your style and just want to share, which is great! But that doesn't leave the cheerleaders much to input on

I'm not trying to be passive aggressive. I'm trying to open a place where people can critique because I AM comfortable in my style. Maybe I'm trying to force too much.

I hear ya. I just know sometimes it's not my audience, know what I mean?

No, not 100%, but you've given me something to think about.

I am also addicted to lulu, but you really take it to new levels. You seem to find all kinds of cool pieces. I love this, one of my favs for sure. The proportions are right on.

Re comments, I find I've been quite busy lately, and drowning in notifications once I comment, so am doing more reading and less writing. But this thread I seriously just overlooked

I liked it, but didn't have a lot to say besides that it looks good and shows off your nice, fit shape. I figured you're someone who appreciates more substantive comments than that.

I am surprised to find that the skirt is Lululemon...it looks just like a regular skirt.

I really like the layering look, especially from the back. The colors go really well together.

In your 9-5 post, you have a semi-straight on pose and your shoulders look wider than hips, not by much, but still wider. I think rectangle is your secondary shape.

So your workout outfit is just sports bra and leggings? Ah, to be that fit...

Ha! Alaskagirl said the same thing, so I did the IT test. Standing with my arms hanging naturally they're less than an inch away from my hips. So yeah, working out has given me big shoulders, buts it's IT icing on a rectangle cake.

And no way would I work out in just a bra. Tanks all the way!

I think your outfit looks great on you. I love the skirt and I like the sweater layered over a longer tank. I'm not too keen on the rear view, though, because that's where you can really tell that the top is gear. I guess I'm not totally comfortable with the "formcore" concept as workwear, or of gear worn as street clothes. But if that works for you and your work environment, more power to you. It certainly is flattering and you do look good.
