Day Vies

Well, I felt really comfortable in this outfit. I love a flutter sleeve and icy blues. I also love a floaty printed skirt. I am not sure how I feel about losing my waist. I look rectangular. The skirt is new but the blouse is an old favorite BR -- I don't think I'll be wearing these two together again without some waist defining element.

It is a slightly different silhouette for you DV but non-the-less, you still look sassy and chic. Would a belt not add your craved for waist definition?

I dunno though, I kinda like this flowy look (maybe because of the pleats in the skirt?)

Diane - yes it is a different silhouette for me one I have not worn in a good long while. I could have added a belt but the blouse is woven silk and it isn't long enough to drape nicely and be belted.
There are weird dynamics that happen with a large bust and woven tops -- drape and sliding become major issues.

Lyn- I'll wear this skirt with a tucked blouse in plum I have a belt in a similar plum tone and it works really well like a dress almost. Have a great Saturday to you too.

I saw that skirt and thought it was so cute. The colours are fresh and alive.

This is a different silhouette for you but for an end-of-summer day I think it's a good one to experiment with. I wonder if the waist surrender would have felt less troublesome if the top were a bit longer. Not with this skirt, I suppose, but perhaps with a slim skirt and a longer top. But I can see why you hang onto this one as well. Silk, plus lovely colour, plus sleeves you enjoy...nothing to sniff at.

Suz - you're on to something. I think a fuller skirt. I know I don't mind the waist surrender of this top when I wear a twill a-line skirt. I think I need more volume on the bottom to balance the top.

Ahhh, so cool in this hot, sticky last hurrah of summer!

You are normally the queen of proportions, so I am probably wrong, but the proportions feel a bit off to me . . . Still, cool and refreshing!

Both elements are fab, and together, they are so close. I think Suz has a point -- the combo would go from good to terrific if the top were longer or the skirt were fuller. I am in awe of your ability to wear flutter sleeves and shorter, print skirts! You rock!

I don't think there's a color you can't wear. What a gorgeous shade of blue! The skirt is such a happy piece, but your beautiful smile lights up your photos.

Such a pretty skirt! I always struggle with proportions with skirts and tops and from my experience it seems a slightly longer top would work a little better here. Sometimes I like adding a lower slung belt, too. But that's me!
