WIW 8/11: NAS plaid shirt for work/MOTG-lace skirt & pajama jeans

Multitasking with my clothes. I was worried that plaid might be too casual for work, but then I dressed it up with a navy lace pencil skirt and navy heels, hopefully it worked. The shirt is silk, which helps make it a little dressier. Then after work, I changed into my comfy pajama jeans and grey wedge sneakers to take the kids out to the park. DD and DS1 are in adventure camp and DD just learned to ride her bike without us holding onto the bike, and DS1 is now riding a scooter bike too. It's great to see how much confidence they have gained in just a couple of days!

The plaid with the lace looks fantastic -

It would never have occurred to me to match plaid with lace but it works so well. You've inspired me to try something similar with a navy lace skirt that I have.

WIW, that is one if my favorite looks- the more casual shirt with pencil skirt. You got just the right vibe. I agree it's not a typical " plaid shirt" and so is great for work, especially the rich colors and fabric, plus it tones down the lace.

I really like both combinations. I frequently do a variation on this too - my work outfit transitions to an after work outfit with a change of bottoms and shoes.
My older sons both learned to ride a bike using a scooter bike and it worked great. The younger one especially got the hang of it fast and was riding a regular bike when he was 4.

I love both outfits! Pairing the plaid with the lace is brilliant - and then pairing the plaid with the PJ jeans completely changes the vibe of the shirt! Multi-purpose shirts are a good thing! You look great!

The plaid and lace combo looks especially great -- I might have to try that with my one lace item (a black pencil skirt) when the weather cools. Don't you love when a piece is so flexible?

Oh wow. Love this, both versions dressed up and down. And I am not really a plaid shirt person -- actually have a bit of a poisoned eye (insert awkward junior high memories when plaid flannel shirts were all the rage). Your WIW makes me re-think here.

Before I clicked on pic 3 and the closeup of the bag, I thought the bag was leopard print. I love your bag here but I have to say that leopard print would be equally brilliant with that plaid shirt.

I was tasked to design a dress code booklet for the company I used to work for and one of the president's rules was "no plaid." Since I love plaid and was young and a trifle rebellious, I proceeded to flout the rule at every opportunity. I was never called out. I suspect he meant something other than the plaid wool skirts and silk blouses of which I was so fond.
