WIW 2/26: Black and red

I have a lunch date today and a dinner work event tonight so I wanted to look reasonably presentable. I got all dressed in this black and red ensemble and then my black velvet and red tartan sneakers jumped out of the closet and wanted to join the party, and I thought "why not?" What's the use of having Das Boot if I can't have a little footwear fun with the other foot?

Red pencil skirt: Halogen
Black turtleneck: Ann Taylor
Tiger print sleeveless sweater: thrifted, ancient
Black ponte blazer: Gibson
Black sneakers: Nike
Black tote: Coach

I am feeling pretty good in this outfit even though the tiger-print piece is super old. What do you all think? Do I look reasonably contemporary?

Love this. Had you not said the sweater was old, I would not have guessed. It's fun and unexpected. Although you'll tire of it, the boot thing is a new challenge that's kind of interesting right now as we settle into that long period of "boring shoulder season" clothing because it's too early to wear spring items.

Das Boot. Boo!! I've once had to wear a boot for several weeks. Totally not fun. Way to dress it up! I don't think the boot should dictate the fashion.
