So this is the "casual elegance" cottage wear capsule, as opposed to the "hot and sticky" cottage capsule. This is a real challenge for me... getting my head around dressing nicely for a cottage. (As I lamented in my August challenge post). I need/want to step it up a notch.

This afternoon, I went back to the cottage of the friend who was dressed so impeccably at her cottage earlier in the month. Today I drove a car load of 11-12 year olds, for an "end of summer party" that her daughter (my daughter's BFF) was hosting. I had offered to help out - there were 14 girls there, who had lunch, went swimming, played cards, did henna tattooing, did some old fashioned party games, that sort of thing. A great way to wind down before going back to school.

But I digress. I decided I was going to be dressed perfectly this time. That means appropriate, plus one :).

This is what I wore. The shoes are navy with a bit of bling (but are fit flops, so perfect for the beach) and I even put on EARRINGS! (not my usual little silver hoops). And yes, a skort not shorts. Yet not a running skort...

So, what do you think? Did I achieve "appropriate plus one"?
