So this outfit consists of pieces I absolutely LOVE. However, something fell flat in this outfit and I can't figure out what it is. I think I could have styled this better.

The top: the drape is glorious and this feels all kinds of amazing. It's 100% silk and comfort factor is super high.

The skirt: VC midi. My biggest workhorse as of late.

The shoes: Cocolion mentioned they did not look modern enough when worn with the EF pants I've been lusting over. And now - I think I agree. Plus, I could've worn my more modern Naot wedges (the higher ones) but I woke up with foot pain today. I think I need to find better lower wedged/rigid heeled sandals that are more modern-edgy.

I think the shoes are the main reason this outfit fell flat, and secondly, the proportions. I should've hiked up the skirt. I find that on me, midi skirts work best in my more tailored, figure-hugging silhouettes. I should've gone shorter with this skirt.

Oh and also the hair... My bangs are growing longer that I have to sweep them to the side. I look less "current" that way. Yikes!

Gorgeous top Katie! I love the drape, the high low hem, and the colour is insanely perfect for you. I love your outfit as is , your beautiful hair bookends the shoes, and I'm not sure I would alter the skirt length.

I guess the proportion (midi skirt length) thing is all in my head (again)? I'm loving all these looser fitting garments I've been wearing lately. I feel almost rebellious since this look would've been my poison eye months ago. I love it now!

Hi KatieKat: Gorgeous as is - I love that color on you. But I also see what you mean about proportion and shoes. I would think about semi-tucking that top (so that the skirt looks proportionally longer) and wearing with booties or an edgier shoe (as you already suggested).

I agree with the others I think the proportions work. Love the fluid over structured look and the blue suits you so well. Great jewellery too.

Not flat at all! Proportions look great, and that cobalt is stunning on you. Also, the angle of the photo makes it appear the skirt is hitting you at the knee -- not what I consider a midi length, which falls several inches below the knee. Hmm.

I like everything about this outfit except maybe the sandals... I think this skirt length is very flattering on you just the way it is, maybe you're not used to it yet To me a midi means it hits at mid-calf. Perhaps more refined sandals, these are cute but they look very everyday/run errands casual to me. I like how you accessorized it with the jewelry too.

Honestly, I love the proportions in this 'not conventionally flattering' outfit! You have accessorised brilliantly and I love the big burst of cobalt !! You sound unhappy with the shoes- I know you have super fussy feet and am sending good luck and good shopping vibes your way!

@Danskogirl: I really wish I can semi-tuck but the tube skirt is very high waisted on my me (2 inches below my bra line). Although.... You just gave me an idea with the booties! I will try that look! Thanks!

@cciele: haha, I guess knee-length is midi to me (I often wear my skirts an inch above the knee). I may have hiked the skirt up slightly in the photo and the hemline might have fallen just below the knee throughout the day. But - since this proportion looks good to you all, I'll stick with it

@Mona: I have a pair of Naot wedges (almost 3 inches high with an inch and a half platform) and that balances the skirt out nicely. Sadly the sandals has been causing me pain because my right foot flopped around a lot. I had to take a break from it. L

@Gracie: I wish I can get better sandals I do, more than anything want a pair that's refined yet edgy. Sadly, I'm very limited due to my foot condition. Although flats are in vogue at the moment, they KILL my feet if they don't have at least a half an inch platform, arch support, and my feet are 100% secure in it (no flopping around, which is what happens to most sandals). I cannot wear heels without that rigid platform either. I wish my feet weren't picky

@fuzzylogic: thanks for the good vibes. I'm trying out other options for my feet - mainly those unlaced sneakers that are trendy right now and loafers. They all have to have a platform, of course, but putting in my insole in those things guarantee me all day comfort. There's also that brand, Fitflop, which is heaven to my feet. Sadly, styles are super limited to mainly Flipflops here in Canada. I really want to try out their metallic loafers!

Going with the others...don't see what you see, I see fantastic! My first thought (cause I always click the picture before I read) was insane envy over the top. I want it! If I had that I would probably keep my black tube skirt.

I think you look gorgeous. Once I read that you wanted tweaks I tried to find something and I wondered if another inch on the necklace would help it stand out more against the top. But I don't even know if I believe that! I think I want to look like this.

And sympathy over the foot pain. I haven't had a good week in that regards either. It is so frustrating about shoes...the only way to find out whether some will work is to wear them. If it's a bust you are both out of money and hurting. I can't think of any clothing item as hard to test as shoes.
