So pretty on you Aida - love this combo and the style of it all as well.

Oh wow, thank you all so much for the lovely comments!!

Angie, thank youuu <3 Our cherries are very late blooming and almost always get washed away before we can enjoy them, so I am so happy that they're actually looking so good this year! I must have missed your olive/pink post so thanks for the link; I love the idea of adding in metallic shoes and a splash of citron.

Shannon, JackieC, Laura, and Neel, I hope you'll share your versions

Shevia, oooh yum, citrus tree smells sounds wonderful.

Lyn67, strange but I think you're onto something about the lower roll being slightly dressier. Perhaps it evokes a cuffed trouser feel?

Beth Ann, hmm now that is a great question. With many of my outfits I'm really not sure if the casual viewer will realize "slouchy" as opposed to "sloppy", and often those slouchy look do require a lot of fiddling to add the right amount of structure back in. Here's a very long answer for you:

I'm not sure I have a good answer about trying and knowing right away if something is working, unfortunately. The bulk of my slouchy and oversized things are that way due to my shrinking out of them or sizing to fit my shoulders, and since slouchy is trendy I figured I could put off replacing those pants for a while. I will say that now that slouchy is so very mainstream I am eternally frustrated with getting fits that I like.

I am less picky about denim weight but am VERY picky about stretch. I have found that I highly dislike the slouchy effect with my stretchy denim, and much prefer the look with the very lightweight and not-too-stretchy jeans instead (or in the case of my BF jeans, zero stretch). These olive pants are a thin cotton twill with just a wee bit of stretch, so I'm OK with them being slouchier. Soft and thin fabrications feel best for slouchy jeans to me, except in the case of BF jeans. Trousers are a whole other story, I'm picky about everything there

As for telling whether or not they "work", it's hard to determine that in isolation. I have to consider specific pieces I'd pair with them, or at the very very least the ways that I would need to style and add structure in order to feel comfortable. For example, with my slouchy lightweight wide leg trousers, I know that in general I will be happiest pairing tops that can be tucked, semi-tucked, or that are borderline-cropped or hi-low; nearly any other style is going to feel too unstructured. Of course, I'll experiment with other things but I do try to have some guidelines in my head. Otherwise the piece won't get worn, because I'll feel grumpily sloppy instead of happily slouchy.

I haven't needed nor tried to purchase purposefully slouchy skinnies, but I have a hunch that buying a pair that actually fits you in a size (or two) up is the way to go, especially if there is fading that is done well; they'll have volume in ways that don't add anything odd to you, because they mirror your shape. The pants will look like something you've just had a long time that have eased up. At least, that's the look I go for. Hope this novel was helpful ><

You are as gorgeous as your flowers! Love that color combo.

This is really beautiful, Aida. Blush pink and white go so well together with olive. It is a dreamy outfit!
I am envious of the flowers you guys have. We just started on crocuses last week and now some daffodils - and I saw first star amgnolia blooms yesterday! but rhododendrons are so far away yet...

Thank you Cheryl and Sveta!

Sveta, we have a LOT of rhodies and most are mid-to-late blooming but we do have three (two cream and one miniature blue) that are early blooming. It's amazing how having that early color can perk up the mood!

Aida -- this is an especially great outfit in a series of great outfits and looks that just never miss! i'm completely inspired by the color combo. I love how you have been pointing out your make up choices lately, as well.

Our neighborhood's streets are lined w/choke cherry trees that have just (3 weeks late here in the DC area) burst into bloom. We'll have 4 beautiful days then they'll come down like pink snow and it will take weeks to clean it all up! so, today would be the day to don blush and olive and get out there with the camera!

Thank you Laurie! I wear so little makeup (mascara, lip tint) that sometimes I'm not sure if it's useful but I do change my lip color to match my outfits as well as sometimes going heavier on the mascara. Your neighborhood sounds beautiful, but I hear you on the cleanup! Those little petals sure get suck in everything, don't they?

The blush and green are lovely paired together. And pretty trees!
