I have been looking for a smart winter coat for a couple of years. I wanted it to work with black, but not be black. I wanted it to be classic, but a little different. And I was price sensitive- because our winter is fairly mild. But there were occasions when my vintage cream and grey check coat was not right, and puffers, raincoats and blazers were wrong as well.

Last week I went to Wellington, mostly to see family. We did a few holiday activities as well, and I snuck in a quick peak in the shops.

Very decisively I saw this teal wool coat and bought it. It was expensive for me, but I consider it worth while. Italian wool fabric, but NZ made, gorgeously lined. I hope to wear it for many years. Teal is a good colour on me- and it works with denim, grey, black, cream, navy and brown - all the likely shades for winter pants. It won't be great with red or cerise or coral or blush but they work with my cream coat and I tend to wear them more in summer anyhow.

Here are some shots taken today- quite late in the day so the lighting is not great. Bonus pics of Wellington and another one local to where I live - taken on a bike ride.

Wearing new coat, black dress and leggings and camel boots. Bone bag. Makeup c/o Estée Lauder as I tried something new. 14 year old does not approve- 11 year old said he did not know as he is not a fashion judge.

Thanks for looking.
