WIW - liked vs not liked - YouLookFab Forum

Hi ladies,
I've been working out what I like vs. what I'd like to move away from, so I compared a couple of recent outfits. The first two I liked, the second two I will tweak.

#3 outfit I will swap out the top for my blue button-up (buttoning the top button) and swap the earrings for stud earrings. I would like this outfit to look more "menswear" than it does and the blouse and earrings feel like they belong to a different outfit.

#4 outfit, this I will swap the shoes for sneakers and the jeans for a more comfortable faded black pair in a similar cut.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome!

#1 completely wowed me and is my favorite. I can see number 3 going either more menswear as you suggest or swapping the bottom half to something softer (maybe the light bermudas in your finds?). Unless that is what you are trying to get away from of course. The colors are all wonderful on you.

#2 with the light neutrals is my favorite, I am drooling over that grey topper.
I like your tweeting ideas for 3 and 4. You wear high contrast as well as the low contrast of 2.

#2,#1,#4 are my order of favorites. #2 just look fresh. I like 4 the way it is but I think you can build on it with your swaps. The individual pieces in 3 all look fine but it is missing something. That white blouse might like an eye catching larger long pendant?

I also like ##1 and 2 the best. The first one is especially sophisticated and cool.

I wonder if it the low contrast of the first 2 outfits compared to other ones which makes a difference. Even if a sweater in #1 is a higher contrast but keeping all the rest as a column of black streamlines the whole look.

thanks for the feedback! it makes me feel encouraged that the outfits I liked the best also look the best to your eye.

For the record, #4 isn't too bad, but I think it's too pretty, so the swap of the footwear would help bring it down to earth. The jeans are a size too small, so paired with a fitted knit top (esp. one with stripes) makes this physically and emotionally uncomfortable...the faded black pair would be more comfortable as well as bringing the look a little more out of the "pretty" or "preppy" spectrum.

It's a matter of personal taste of course and of comfort, but I like them all ! I agree though with sportier shoes in nr. 4. And nr. 2 is delicious!

#1 is so freaking gorgeous. You wear that lilac color incredibly well! I love #2 as well. I can see what you're talking about with your tweaks to 3 and 4 and would love to see you post pictures of those when you wear them.

These are all nice outfits! #1 is my favorite of the set. That color is very flattering on you. It's interesting to note what you don't like about the last two outfits as I think they both look good on you. I understand not feeling comfortable though.
