WIW - it's summer!

The forecast was right, it was really hot today (30°C). I wore my denim pencil skirt, I hadn't worn it for some time. I have to be in the right mood to wear it - it's so much more body conscious than my usual skirts! And I still have some problems with the front gaping.

What do you think?

Thanks Texstyle! I think it was the summer weather. It still was so cold the last few weeks... Although it was also sticky, it just started to rain a bit outside.

Thanks Shannon! I don't often use the bag because it's so summery looking, suede and too small for everyday. But today was the right day for it!

Great look Astrid and that's a lovely top on you. I also love how well the bag finishes the look, adding a bit of freshness and polish.

One suggestion I might make is extending the bag belt a bit, so the bag sits a bit lower on your hip. Denise suggested it to me once with my cross-body bag and I haven't looked back.

I am crazy about the colors and print in that top! Your denim skirt is great, and I know how they can stand away from the body in a comfortable way (and not require a slip) when it's very hot out. In fact, I have one on now.

About the gapping, do you sew Astrid? I often sew up buttoned skirts most of the way so I don't have that problem. You could have a tailor do it too, of course. I sew the outer edge, along the original seam, leaving a slit at the bottom button (so it looks natural) and then stopping near the top so I can unbutton it enough to get it over my hips. It really helps a lot.

Love the look, Astrid. I don't think it seems "body con;" rather, it's just following the line of your body in a flattering, not suggestive, way. I'm loving cool print tops this year, and yours is great! Hope you enjoy the warmth! We''ve had more than our share of it this year in Chicago!

I see no sign of gaping in the skirt.

I think you look fantastic. And wow, what a beauty you are, too.

The outfit is so well thought-out for a hot day in a big city. It's a casual outfit but not sloppy. The skirt and the sleeveless top are right for heat. And the edgy flat brogues look like you could walk any where.

Astrid, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, inside and out. You have a gorgeous face and bone structure, and a lovely bodyshape. Please do not be self-conscious about your curves, many wish they had them!!!!

I also didn't notice the gaping, Astrid, just that this is a perfect Summer outfit (Yay for our warmer temps, right!). I adore these shades of blue on you, and love the yellow and brown accents, they highlight your beautiful hair even more.

Thanks Claire! It's great in this kind of weather, I agree. I sew a bit , thanks for the tip - this might just work. The worst of the gaping is between the third and fourth button from the top and I'm able to get into the skirt with only the top two buttons open, with a bit of wriggling.

Thanks Denise! The oxfords really are comfortable. Also with bare feet. I had some problems when I wore them without socks the first time, but now that they are broken in they are really comfortable.

Thank you so much, Lemonade! It really gets better everyday, I'm a lot less self-comscious now than I was in the past. I agree that sandals would have been great with it, but I still don't have a fab pair. I'm not sure I'll be successful in finding it either.
