What fun it was to see everyone at SSIF! Everyone was so gracious and inviting even though I've been quite inactive on the forum lately.

I've fallen out of the habit of taking WIW shots - haven't really found a great photo-taking spot in the new house, though I suppose this will do. Anyway, I thought it would be appropriate that my first WIW in quite some time is one that was inspired this weekend by the lovely Aida.

Aida and I are Miz Mooz boot twins (seen here) and while chatting with her this weekend, I mentioned I hadn't worn them in a really long time. I was wearing this Classiques Entier stone leather jacket and she looked at me and asked me why on earth I wasn't wearing them with this jacket?! Of course she was much kinder than that, but it was something of a "duh!" moment for me. So here I am, thanks to Aida, dusting off (literally) these tall boots.

Comments and suggestions for improvement are always welcome. In fact, do you prefer the jacket closed (1) or open (2)? Or does it matter? I go back and forth and can't make up my mind. Thanks!

I remember you chatting to Aida about the boots Christy you look great! Doesn't the jacket look good with your boots! The soft neutrals are fab. Closed, open, closed, open.... hmmm. I like both. No help am I?I like the proportions either way.

That is so funny! I think I walked by as you two were talking about the boots. They look great with the jacket. Not surprisingly, Aida was right on about that (she has the most amazing eye for pairing light shoes, doesn't she?). I like both open and closed, but I like open more. I like that it gives you the vertical line across your front to integrate the dark skirt with the light jacket.

This looks like a really great outfit! I love Aida's style too:) I like it worn open , for exactly the reasons KP mentions above. Nice touch with the cream handbag too - less predictable than a black one, and really polishes this look off!

That is a great photo spot and a fab outfit! I honestly can't pick a jacket open or closed fave because they are both perfect!

Aren't fabbers the best for suggesting different combinations? This looks stellar, and I love the jacket either open or closed on you, whatever your inner thermostat dictates.

Fantastic outfit. I recently met Aida, and it was so wonderful to experience her energy and style in person. She's amazing!

I love this outfit and that jacket is gorgeous on you. It looks terrific with the boots. I love the line when it is closed, but I have a slight perference for it open so I can see more of what's underneath and because it is a slightly more casual look (which is my bias). Either way, it's fantastic.

I like it open better, but I know I always end up doing up my jackets and wearing them closed subconsciously.

Claire and Deborah, thank you for compliments on our new home. We love it here and it's been fun yet a little overwhelming to get it all decorated. This is one of my favorite rooms - I was daring (for me!) and bought a blue velvet sofa with chrome nailhead trim. Super glam!

Aida is a genius with coming up with new outfit combinations, and she was spot on. That jacket and those fabulous boots go so well together. I like both versions, they work equally well to my eye. And your bag is the perfect "third piece".

I'm so glad you decided to join us Christy. It was wonderful meeting you, and I hope we can chat more next time (I've decided there definitely needs to be a next time:-)

That's a stunning outfit, Christy. (Good call on the boots, Aida!) I like the jacket both ways and would wear it zipped against the breeze outside or open indoors, probably. I like the jacket both open and closed. I think it's great that you can wear it both ways and have it look equally good, because that makes it so much more versatile.

It's a treat, to see you post, Christy! (I think I have spotted you in one of somebody's picties from the meeting!) Your black and white(cream) outfit is a very ladylike and curent one-and matching your soft complexion so artsy! Love the reverse of leatherware from the common black, to stone white. Jacket it's all fabulous, no matter open or closed! (Oh, and love your house corner in the backgroudn, very stylish and modern, too). Now, just hoping, you're back to posting regular wiw-as always been a great inspiration for me!:-)

Woo a Christy outfit post The jacket and boots work wonderfully together, I'm so glad you tried it. I do recall being rather assertive about the suggestion 0;} I vote jacket open for the extra vertical line, and it makes the dark column more obvious. Having touched that gorgeous jacket, I would also use the word "yummy" to describe it. We need to brainstorm some more outfits with those boots! (Could be fun with the new olive puffer?)

Christy, it was a delight sharing the breakfast table with you at SSIF and I loved seeing your style in person, because I am a huge fan of yours. Aida is full of inspiration and she has a beautiful way of expressing it. So happy you got to dust off these boots and either way looks great with a slight preference for open. I'm still thinking about your Theory blouse and wondering why I didn't pursue one for myself at the time.
