It is coat season here, and at the rate I am going I will have a coat for every day I can wear one.
First up is my first purchase from the Zara sale. I thought it looked sort of Miu Miu when I first saw it, but then I decided it was more Gucci pre-season fall when Angie posted about it. Anyway it was the first thing I pounced on when the sale started. So, of course, a glut of coats soon thereafter turned up while thrifting. Luckily most of them didn't fit! More about that in another post I hope.
One that did fit is this fun or funny Sisley (Italian chain) jacket in #2 and #3. I like how it combines assymetry, cape-like sleeves and a touch of Sherlock Holmes.
#4 and #5 are typical outfits I wear to the thrift store when working. Almost everything in both pictures was thrifted for about $2.50 each, including the shoes (Tony Mora and Trippen) and sweaters (Norma Kamali and Miu Miu).
Anyway, will be happy with any suggestions or comments. Are the sweaters too short with the jeans? Is anyone else shopping the Zara sale? Thanks for looking!

Coat number one looks like a very luxurious one - a lovely piece in a gorgeous colour - I can see why you pounced!

That cape sleeve coat is also amazing and I particularly like the asymmetric zipper. Looks gorgeous on you. Champion thrifting!

oh man, am i ever coveting that cape coat! And you look great in denim.

You're very fortunate to have such good thrift stores. The second hand market around here is tightly curated and therefore tends to be quite expensive. The quality is universally good, but no finds like these!

Not shopping Zara. It never fits me.

Thanks shipskitty and approprio! I couldn't believe that the jacket was just hanging there waiting for me when I saw it.
I do have the great fortune to live near some amazing thrift shops. I have a couple of other advantages: my co-thrifters aren't that interested in trends and labels, at least not the same ones I am - thanks to Angie I am far more educated about fashion than most. And, if I may say so myself, I am an excellent thrifter and sorter!

I love the gray sweater - looks great on you.

I'm not a Zara girl, but it's because I find the store too big - I'm hopeless with too many options! (hence I always skip H&M, department stores, etc. too ...). That said, they do have some gorgeous stuff when I see it on others!

YES. That first coat is quite Gucci-esque, and it's fabulous. Fun with the red boots. What is the fabrication? It looks slick and wet in the photos.

The cape coat is a fun piece too. Whimsical and fashion forward. You can fly away when you want to escape a situation. Handy. xo

Fabulous looks. You glow in the grey sweater (not too short, not) and what amazing shoes. I love both coats, although I am shivering at the second one...the wind here would be up those sleeves in a trice. Enjoy it!

I am studiously avoiding the Zara sale. The only thing I might pick up is another backpack. I gave mine to my stepdaughter, thinking I could pick up a leather one instead, but haven't found a suitable replacement. Danier was sold out.

torontogirl - Thanks! I remember feeling completely overwhelmed by big American department stores. Zara seems relatively manageable - or maybe they are smaller here.

Suz - Oh dear, I hadn't even thought of the wind factor. I haven't bought anything at Zara for some time, but I cannot resist the end of season sales there. It is my retail thrill.
Angie - Thanks for the validation about the Gucci-esque look of the Zara coat. It is polyester, I wouldn't even call it faux leather, more like faux vinyl. I sort of think it looks like a rain coat and had it in mind for wet days, although I have been wearing it in the sun so far. If only I could fly away at will with the other coat - I would never take it off!

Beautiful!! I don't think the sweaters look to short. And those coats are made for you!! I'm in love with the color of the Zara coat. It looks like oxblood? And capes are just wonderful, never can have enough of them.

Will you please take me thrifting with you?! You find the most lovely, stylish items for next to nothing and it makes me want to shriek with delight and cry at the same time!! I don't know how you do it. The thrift stores in my area turn up occasional gems, and sometimes I can find something worth altering or re-fashioning. Mostly, it's a lot of tshirts and plaid flannel button ups, and awful leisure suits.

I love the first coat and the cape coat on you! And it looks like you have great luck thrifting. Like Keturah, the thrift stores around here can be really hit or miss.

Love the Zara coat (is it grey or a purple tone?) The fabric looks gorgeous quality. Also, what a fab shape the second coat is with the cape type sleeves, So fab. Your sweaters look fine in length. Love your style

I know it seems a bit ridiculous that I am able to thrift so much good stuff. Bear in mind I spend quite a lot of time at it and it is a side business for me - one that I hope to expand!

Lucky you (or maybe not) that you get to wear lots of coats. As someone who hates the cold I never thought I would wish for more coat wearing weather. It's just that I see so many great outfits with coats, including yours. The sweaters are not too short.

I like everything here, including your work outfits. The gray sweater and jeans especially--the jeans are the perfect fit and fadedness for your signature je ne sais quoi style. The coat is very cool. And thanks for giving us the second pic of the cape jacket, because it comes to life when you can see the shape. I'm imagining it looks more amazing in real life, in movement.
But wait, you're working at a thrift store?? How great is that?

Re. Zara, it's too early for the first of my two yearly trips to Zara I wish they'd open one not downtown. Downtown is horrid.

Elle I don't like the cold one bit. Winter weather here is in the 50s - just cold enough for coats but not too cold to be glad to wear them.

First of all, it's so great that you are working in a thrift store - you seem to really know your brands and all about thrifting! I like your loose jeans And fun coats too! Yes, I did dabble in the Zara sales (online). I ordered a black long sleeved knit dress for $20. The quality was fabulous! The fabric was nice and thick and stretchy. But alas, the only size available, and I tried it on, was too tight :(. That was the only thing that caught my eye online. I'd love to pop into the physical store but no time for that. But I digress. You look great!
