WIW - a few based on ensembles and random

Hi ladies. I haven't posted a WIW in a while but have taken pictures many days. Here are a few:
#1 was an attempt at Angie's patterned monochrome look. I tried this the day before with b&w patterned slim pants and a black shirt but didn't like it so I switched to a plain sweater. The vest/sweater is loose fitting so I thought it might layer.

#2 I bought a sweater from BR but it was shorter in the back as someone here mentioned and it didn't drape well so I returned it. I tried this one on at ON and bought it. It is very cosy and a tight knit so hangs better. I added dark wash jeans and my favorite booties.

#3 JCrew pants and a linen sweater. Suz may have apoplexy about the linen in winter. LOL The pants look crotchety but they are actually very loose and saggy. I bought these taller engineer boots to go with the pants. They are comfy but a bit loose. Sam Edelman Circus boots.

#4 The sweater I wore with my leather pants for the b-day outing and the purple halogen skirt. It was nasty cold so i wore tall boots. Also Sam Edelman and very comfortable.

#5 My dark red skinny jeans. Also look snug but are actually quite loose which is strange. Maybe it is how i stand for pics. I added the BR faux leather front sweater and the chunky Miz Mooz boots to add weight to balance the hips.

I think I also got five different silhouettes into it without trying.
Comments/suggestions or critiques welcome.

I think this is a great set of outfits, dianthus. They are all simple, well put togetherr, adn the proportions are bang on. There is smiliarity to them, but they are all different.

I really really like the sweater/vest in #1. Any chance that's still available?

Elizabeth, it looks like it is. Just for reference, I bought a medium and think a small would have been better. I wear an 8 in most jackets for the shoulders.

These are all terrific outfits! You look so simply elegant and chic in all of them. All of the silhouettes are equallly fab on you. I really like your jewelry--the bracelets, the long pendant and the shorter chunky chain necklace. I'm really drawn to the red skinnies outfit!

I like that necklace - #1, 2, & 5 are very very smart to me. #5 is probably the sharpest, but my fave is #2... it's *dark and moody* but not unhappy dark and moody...

What a beautiful set of outfits! And far from having apoplexy, I am swooning over #3. Linen sweater worn as a top is just fine in winter to me. It is only you go outside without a coat and in sandals that I will get all freaked out. I even occasionally have been known to wear a linen sweater myself in winter...though always as an underlayer beneath a jacket....

You are the queen of tall boots and look amazing in them.

I love your five silhouettes -- you've definitely fulfilled the challenge!

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't realized that all of the outfits with a pendant were the same one. I do try others but always seem to default back to that one. Interesting.

Carter, that is the ON sweater. After returning the BR sweater, I popped in at ON to look at something and tried this one on just for the heck of it. It is a size S so I figured it wouldn't give me the looseness or drape I wanted but ended up buying it. I think it was less than $45 and then came on sale on the website for even less. No stone and all that.

I had considered ditching the red skinnies since I am moving away from this silhouette but I think they still have a place in the closet so will keep them for now. I appreciate the feedback on this one a lot.

Dianthus, what a great set of outfits! I noticed, too, what a workhorse that beautiful pendant is! It works with everything!! My favs are #3 (a look after my heart - love love love), and #5 with the red skinnies. You really did get 5 silhouettes and work them so well. Great boots all around

My very fave is nr. 2, as am in a hunt for a similar long cardi, and I know so well, not all the long cardis are the same!:-) Yours here is perfect! Last outfit is closely comming after-simple but chic, in a great color way. But 1,3 and 4 are all remarcable, greatly put together and current ones, too.

You look great in all of these , Cheryle! I quite like the purple skirt outfit as a business look. It's one thing we don't see a lot of here on the forum are straight-up work and professional looks, and I wish we did. I'm also in awe of your ability to find things at Old Navy- I need that sweater! I haven't been in there in a couple of years now, but between the jeans you have and this sweater, I'm convinced I should try again. Love the red skinnies with the ivory sweater too....:)

All look great, I especially like the purple skirt and you really got me thinking that I need to get me some colored jeans ! The red is gorgeous. I tend to shy away from colored jeans... but I am thinking I will go for it--looks very very nice. I wish I could wear all those cool boots... my narrow foot unfortunately swims around in boots.

Thank you. Lisa, I don't think I went into old navy for a few years but stopped in one day after a friend found something there. I bought a bunch of merino wool sweaters at BR and Gap and find they are a pain to care for since they want to shrink even on cold. I think I prefer cotton blends and ON had them. I much preferred this ON sweater to the BR one I bought initially.

Darla, I have long skinny feet but it is very cold here in winter so I either wear doubled up socks or really thick wool ones. It feels warmer and keeps my feet from moving in the looser fitting boots.
