Winter wardrobe additions - YouLookFab Forum

I have completed my purchases for winter (famous last words). I replaced quite a few essentials and really reflected on what I wear versus my fantasy lifestyle. I ended up with lots of black and grey but that is fine as I have lots of tops, scarves etc with colour. I also still have my pink parka! I did buy a cranberry sweater but it vanished to my teen girls who have been enjoying it!

Calvin klein down parka - a serious coat for hockey arenas and dog walking
Angora topper - this was a huge hole in my wardrobe. It likely won't get loads of wear but it is essential
Josef Siebel short winter boots - divine.
Tall leather boots
Kensie casual dress. Fantastic and can be worn with skinnies and leggings
Lulu scarf
Gunmetal tote
Cardigan - this is so much nicer in person.

Hey you did great! I especially like the coat in #2, looks like a useful long term classic to me!

Last year about this time...or earlier...you and I were stuck in an endless cycle of buy and return. Seems like you are doing much better!! (I am too.)

Glory, you've outdone yourself here -- I love every one of these. Especially the coat in #2. Did you get it at the Bay? What brand is it? It reminds me a bit of my cranberry wool coat. I'd love to have something like this in navy but would even take charcoal.

The Siebel boots also look fantastic. Where did you find them?

Oh, and I am jealous of the tall boot, too. More info!!

We are tote twins. I got exactly the same one and it is a complete workhorse. I hesitated long and hard before shelling out for one thinking I could get something similar for less money, but it has turned out to be fantastic for lugging around my computer and student papers. I use it almost every day.

Peri you are right I have had a heck of a time with the buy/return cycle. I am a huge over thinker, and that combined with some sense of not deserving higher quality items, over weight etc led me astray.

The Siebel boots are fantastic. They have them at Nordstroms but I purchased mine online from Costco for about $100. They are leather with fur inside. They also come in an olive colour. A great fit. I am thrilled with these boots. http://www.costco.ca/Josef-Sei......product.1...

The tote - I hesitated on this for so long because it is very pricey for a nylon tote. I have only just unpacked it and am a bit unsure. I love the look. I am so happy to hear how great it has been for you Suz.

Great selections, Glory! What is the tote? For the Pliage's I like the long handle drop but am confused on the sizing as to whether medium has long drop, or if is big enough for file folders, or if need large, and do not see gunmetal in the large.

Hi Unfrumped. I found the sizing very confusing. In the end I think that the long handle pliage does not come in a medium - just a small and a large. I could be wrong.
I order the gunmetal long handled in large. I definitely think file folders would fit in there. This is the one at Nordstroms. However I purchased it from Costco online - they stock them now and again and the price point is quite good. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/lo.....te/3241956

I gravitate towards black and gray as well. Some might find it drab but it has a high happiness factor for me.

Very nice additions Glory! (Famous last words indeed ) These all look like perfect functional yet pretty pieces. Liking that tunic/dress in particular.

Glory, thank you for those links. And I do believe the tote will prove valuable. But let me tell you why it became an instant workhorse for me so you can take that into consideration.

I worried that I wouldn't use it because I already have two great totes from Danier.

BUT...it is lighter than those totes, and waterproof. So I use it on days when I will be schlepping stuff to school in all weathers.

I worried that it is too "unconstructed" and doesn't look "finished" enough.

BUT...this can be an advantage if you really have a lot of stuff to carry. I went on an overnight and used it as my overnight bag -- fitting a dress, PJs, shoes, a clutch, my wallet, my computer, my toiletries, and an extra jacket into the bag without any problems at all!! So, while it is true that I do not care for the look of it as much when it isn't full (it sort of collapses in on itself, and I like a structured bag) the practicality makes up for that.

I think it will be a winter godsend for walking about. No worry about slush splashing it. And great for shopping.

I also like that it is so easy to take travelling -- I can pop it inside a suitcase as an "extra" bag if needed.
