Stretch fabrics are wonder fabrics for some things. Those high waists are so uncomfortable and it's all because of basic anatomy right? Our middles are flexible bags made out of muscle in which our organs slosh around! I was totally reminded of this recently when I bought a pair of non-stretch jeans. Wow, they are not nearly as comfortable as stretch jeans. They do have the benefit of staying in place so that I'm not constantly hoiking my pants up by the belt loops, but you really feel the restriction when you sit or bend over.
I know I'm way more conscious of this since having my babes--the stretching your abdominal muscles get then and the weeks/months/years as those muscles slowly regain their tone are pretty revealing. Dragging around that post-baby belly that looks like you are still 5 months pregnant right after having the baby really shows you a lot about how your body is made.
No question--no high waists for me that aren't stretch fabrics!
