Colorado here--- in a college and ski town, so it is looking a bit rough. Lots of gear, lots of "head-shop-meets-herbalist", lots of leggings as pants! That said, we also have some impecabbly-dressed casual or smart casual ladies. I've seen a lot of very nice puffers, great streamlined wool duffle coats, an amazing assortment of beanies, and awesome boots (lots of Fryes on the streets here since we have only had 1.5 snowstorms this winter, yet). I tend not to pay much attention to the college girls because it is not appropriate for my life, but what really ticks me off is when I see the ladies in their 40s, 50s, and beyond pulling crud like wearing leggings as pants with $400 boots.
How fun!
Usually I get to see the trends on people here within a few months of it trending because so many of us travel to the city to shop, shop online, or are from somewhere else (college kids, tourists, people visiting on buisness or retreats). However, they might be only on 2% of the population because we have fewer women than men in the community, and an equal split between college-aged and 50+ with fewer folks in between AND a HUGE amount of the 25-45 year olds are into outdoor rec, either personally or as an industry, so gear is everywhere.
