....that really amped up your style?

I'll go first ....since I have an extremely high waist and almost never tuck anything in...I would have to say the semi-tuck has made a huge difference in elevating the look of an outfit for me. Thanks, Angie and Fabbers for providing the visuals and encouragement!

I've learned to take more risks and keep trying new things. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I feel like my style is evolving in a good way and is becoming more interesting. I draw a lot of inspiration from this forum.

I'm right there with you, Carole, on the semi-tuck. It's a game-changer.

Also, Angie's extremely detailed guide for dressing my body type in a conventionally-flattering way was a real eye-opener for me. I've just about memorized it, I've read it so many times!

That it's OK to tweak proportions so that the final look is what's pleasing to me and makes me feel good, regardless of whether that's what's "conventionally flattering" for my shape. So basically the concept of Just Flattering Enough, which I was experimenting with well before the term was coined

Color + Pattern + Texture + Shine contribute to making an outfit interesting, and it really makes a difference if you have at least three of the four.

My mantra since finding YLF is:

"It's the clothes, not me, that have the fit issue. Don't settle for good enough."

I wear pants almost every day and I'm learning how important the right shoes are to an outfit. (I've also learned everything mentioned above.)

Oh so many things. Some odd ones - matching can be a good thing and lipstick makes a difference.

I think the biggest thing I've learned is how to pay attention to proportion and silhouette. It's really made such a difference in putting outfits together.

I've learned a lot....but I think the ONE thing that has truly made a huge difference is: Knits are your friends when you have a disproportionately large bust. I love the soft drape and stretch knits have; a top that fits my shoulders can fall perfectly over the bust too, unlike most woven fabrics.

And also, the power of alterations. I almost always get the waist taken in for woven tops and tunics and that's a real game changer. The final top looks tailor made and flatters my curves.

Bookending! Semi tuck. Try to keep an open mind (very very hard at times!).

I've learned to never say never! In the time I've spent reading and learning at YLF, I've seen several styles I loved but thought I could never wear. Or styles I didn't like at all at first. But as I learned more, and more importantly learned to open my mind a bit more, I've discovered so many new possibilities. And I'm so grateful for that!

I've learned a lot about how to refine my fashion preferences, both in the abstract and in the form of wardrobe options. I've also learned that my assumed to be permanent poison eye for flared crops was a temporary condition.

Just as important, I've learned the power of a wise, warm and wonderful online community.

Last year I would have said bookending and understanding my body type, but now I give a big shout out for lipstick! I had never used it before and had stopped using blush after retirement, but as I've gotten older and my coloring is fading it has helped so much to give me a shot of vitality and polish. The occasional discussions on makeup choices have provided some great pointers for me.

Proportion, silhouette, bookending, faux tucking and finally narrowed down style descriptors fully embracing my Feminine, Colorful, Boho, Maximal, Sassy self! I got the biggest kick out of the idea of bookending with my hair, never occurred to me. I think most of all is that there is a supportive safe place on the Internet to share fashion passion!

I've learned I need to be pushed to try new things, after I'm educated on what they are! I've learned that classic does not mean what I thought it meant

My 'aha' moment was learning that classics actually change every few years and need to be updated. No wonder so many of my classics were looking somehow 'off' and I couldn't make them work: their proportions and cut were no longer current in so many subtle ways. As a result, they made me feel dowdy and ended up closet orphans.
