What's my body type, redux with better (?) pictures

And yes, I'm starting with another picture, again because it really psychs me out to think of the other pictures starring on the YLF home page. It is an old WIW and has already been commented on.

On my first attempt, various combinations of rectangle, apple, and hourglass were proposed. That last one surprised me, I have to admit.

This might be a bit of a post and run, I'm afraid. We have company coming for a couple of days, but I will try to check in now and again between preparations.

I'm still sticking to my original conjecture of rectangle, secondary apple. Where do you put on weight most easily?

I did all my putting on of weight many years ago (it was mainly a pregnancy thing, my eating habits were not that bad), so I honestly don't know. It is my gut I always feel is out of proportion, though. I haven't checked recently to see if the disconnect is as bad between top and bottom as it was, but that is why I have only had two dresses in the last couple of decades. Finding one that would fit both halves of me was just too frustrating.

Remember that the body type dressing guidelines are JUST guidelines. Do not get too hung up on them. They provide a solid starting point.

Rectangle/apple. I see some similarities in your midriff to mine - short waist and apple tendencies (I blame my kid!). Thanks for posting better photos!

Angie, I do try to never get hung up on guidelines, but they are usually a good place to start. And thanks for the compliment. White is another colour I am rediscovering in a bigger way, although I always had a button-down or two. It was a picture of you in a button-down that first drew me into this blog, actually. I was so impressed to see someone young and chic wearing one proudly - and well - that I had to take a closer look.

It's so hard to see ourselves as other see us. In all the pictures you've posted, I've seen a very nicely proportioned rectangle that could wear almost any of the ideas that Angie suggested in her rectangle guidelines to perfection.

If you were to crop the head from those shots and then ask yourself what you would say if someone else had posted those pics in the forum, it might surprise you. Gut??? Disconnect between the top and bottom??? Not likely! A very attractive woman? YES!

Gaylene, you are such a sweetheart! Actually when I look in the mirror I am almost always pleasantly surprised. I have to resist the temptation to watch myself in shop and office windows because it would look so narcissistic, but I can still hardly believe that that person is me. But when I see my photos, it looks quite different, regardless of angles or much of anything.

The gut is being tamed, and I am hopeful that I can shrink the apple to a crabapple. ;o)
