what, where, trend or not

always trying

just curious, do you pay attention to what are trends where you live, or try to be different?

I don't live in a very trendy area, or at least the places I go mostly seems to not attract really trendy ladies. Old ladies, my age, seem to be mostly frumpy, the really young mostly skimpy, skinnies, short shorts, thong sandals, flip flops, etc. and a lot of sloppy casual of all sorts.

Trends? What trends? Where I live I never see anything really trendy, or if I do it's few and far between. I just go my own way and wear the trends I cherry pick for myself from learning what I can on here. I love fashion and love to be on the slightly dressier side of casual, so I forget about every one else and do my own thing. I have some very stylish clients in their 80's actually. One frequently sports culottes and looks amazing. I think I may see more trends being worn in the city, but I'm not there that often.

I live rural so lots of hipster farmers and retired farmers. It's all badly fitted jeans and tees around here. I love going to the city and seeing people who actually care about their style. Even there few people are on trend but at least there is style.

In my city, I see a few really well dressed people from day to day, but nothing super trendy. If I see a trend on a blog or a magazine that I want to try, it doesn't matter to me if I have seen it worn locally or not, although overall I prefer not to look like everyone else.

The good and bad side to living in a place where hardly anyone cares about fashion is that I can wear exactly what I please. No one appreciates it, but no one frowns on it either.

The nice thing about living where I do, people are late adapters and then wear a trend that they fancy for ever. Older ladies are still wearing their things from the 80's and 90's, probably the last time they went shopping.

It's a mixed bag around here, but I don't feel out of place wearing trends! Lots of fashion forward folks and some that wear lots of gear etc.

I do. I live in a metropolitan area where trending fashion is like a coliseum sport... Kids play it in the street, adults play in leagues in the Central Park, then everyone goes to see the professionals play...

Its a mixed group here. There are college students from NYC here and they have their look, then there are the CNY folks in their college town sweats, and then there are the rural folk in their Carhartts. Did I miss anyone? Sorry? What was the question again? Oh, yes, most are slow to adapt trends and slow to lose them also, but the sport logo sweats never change, ever. No not ever......

More of a mixed bag here also. Lots and lots and lots and lots of colleges and therefore college kids, so we have their influences and all the retailers that they shop at. We also have people that have come from all over the world to work in nanotech, so we have their influences and all the retailers that they shop at. Then again, head out in any direction and it gets rural and mountainous fast. A true mixed bag.

I work at home and don't get out much, so I don't pay much attention to what's trending in my neck of the woods. I think that most of the people on the street, so to speak, are pretty nondescript here. The only place I see anything interesting is when I go to the mall. I generally don't pay attention to what people are wearing and just do as I please. I'm very grateful to YLF for helping out here, because this is what I rely on for fashion info.

Mainstream fashion is quite conventional where I am, and I don't find it terribly interesting. But we do have some very stylish older ladies and gents, which can be quite inspiring.

I also pay close attention to what my students at the art college are wearing. They are a walking herd of boundless creativity, and many are very fashion forward. It's fun to try to keep up with them.

I live in Melbourne, Australia's second largest city and the fashion capital of the land. Fashion, creativity and style is everywhere around the city, happily mixing with regular urban wear. You still see some people who couldn't care less or cannot afford much due to very low incomes, but they are the minority in my part of the city.
